There's no hunting in Prince George's County, it's quite a densely-populated area and there are no open wildlife spots to hunt in.

From your original post:

I'm beginning to think that ANY post containing the word "school" now serves as grounds for holier-than-though homeschoolers to bash the rest of us that have our kids in public schools.

I read the above to be aimed at all homeschoolers. After your last reply, I can see that you meant "holier-than-thou" to be a modifier, not general adjective. That's why I was talking about the "broad brush".

From your last post:

Nice use of big words, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm neither being Belligerent nor using Ad Hominem attacks in supporting my claims. If you really want to impress me, reign in the combative fringe element within your homeschooling community.

I wasn't trying to impress you, honestly. I was simply writing the way I think.

My "homeschooling community" is my family. Do you hold yourself responsible for the worst that happens in your child's "school community", if your child is not involved? I don't - on either end.

I think we could have a genuine debate. I certainly don't have the answers - just my best guesses for my own little family. Have a good day.

I like it! Or how about a senior, white-haired, retired sub who walks into a classroom slaps her delicate mother-of-pearl handled .22 on the desk and asks, "Any questions?"

Actually it should be 'who' not "...that is homeschooled..." but it isn't your fault as it appears English grammar is no longer taught in schools. :)

Someone at the school had the foresight to keep the doors locked once all the pupils were in, as a basic precaution?

That would make a good law in light of Columbine.

Put intercoms and cameras at the front door for after hr visitors.

Guy had black ski mask. Confronted by an officer on patrol. Gunman tried to enter school, but door was locked.

Did anyone but the officer actually see the perp?

Most schools have intercoms and locked doors now. Even our little school out here in the country.

Dear thoughtomator,

I don't know if there is any hunting permitted in any part of Prince George's County, but a lot of the southern part of the county outside the Beltway is still pretty rural. In fact, where this school is located, in Upper Marlboro, there are still working farms.

The farmland and wilderness is disappearing fast as developers gobble up the land and build $800K McMansions (not a criticism, just an observation), but there's still a fair bit below and to the east of Bowie and beyond.

I know that where I live, in my part of Anne Arundel County (my house is perhaps five miles from the county line, due east of Bowie, a little more northerly than Upper Marlboro) there is hunting.

How can you miss the "Government school is child abuse" crowd?

I fully support homeschooling, and under different circumstances, I might BE homeschooling. A good percentage of people around here are maniacal about this issue, though.

Doesn't Gun + Mask + Attempted Entry = Probable Cause in the first place?

I have to assume the "Officer" is not a real cop or is not armed.

As long as we're taking the time to correct your grammar...

and whom must post their belief

Should be "who must post their belief..."

It's my understanding that in PG County schools, all entrances other than the main entrance (near the school office) are outside locked. Same in my county (Fairfax VA). Visitors are required to take main entrance. It also wouldn't surprise me that there are security cameras everywhere.

Reading the Keywords at the time of this post, I do not see the word "homeschool" in them.

KEYWORDS: HIGHSCHOOL; MARYLAND; PRINCEGEORGESCOUNTY; PUBLICSCHOOL; SCHOOL; SECULARSCHOOL; Click to Add Keyword

You are the only one so far to bring up home schooling.
