I feel your pain, only worse. I am a public school teacher.

You have my sympathy. You are really behind the 8 ball.

However, my attitude as the father of a now adult home schooler, is not to look down upon, or berate parents of public school kids. I have known a lot of kids that would have been much better off outside of public school and I regret that they were not as fortunate as we in being able to do it. Some parents could have made the sacrifices we did, but many could not, no matter what they wished.

My opinion is that in general, the public school system is so flawed that substantial improvement would require change of a magnitude that just will not happen in the foreseeable future.

You know, you're the first to mention homeschooling on this thread.

The psychobabblers call that "projection".

As far as I know, he's still at large.

I was working as a substitute teacher in a P.G. middle school during the D.C. sniper incidents. When the 13 year old boy was shot at Tasker Middle School, we went into a lockdown. We prevented students from using a corridor that was open to direct fire, and we locked the doors. I made sure only people with proper IDs entered the building.

I know P.G. schools aren't very good. My daughter home-schools. However, they are trying to get their act together and security is one way. Many of the stabbings recently in the Maryland suburbs have happened at football games in Montgomery County, not P.G.

...under lockdown after a man carrying a rifle was seen...

No one has been injured ...

Well, thank God that nobody was injured when the government school administrators panicked over seeing someone with a rifle, or hearing the news that somebody saw someone with a rifle. The liberal administrators ARE dangerous.

Next, a drawing of a gun will be found and the tyke who drew it put in jail. We are SOOoooooo lucky to have these things taught to our children. [/sarcasm]
