The political flap over Democrat Jon Corzine's failed marriage and his ex-wife's claim that he would "let New Jersey down" followed him into church yesterday at the end of a gubernatorial racethat polls show to be close.
At the Shiloh Baptist Church in Trenton, the Rev. Darrell Armstrong asked Corzine and his supporters to hold hands, then asked God to heal the wounds from his failed marriage and reach deep into his soul.
"If it is your will for him to be the next governor of our state, I pray your will be done," Armstrong said to a crowd of 500 that included the only African-American in the Senate, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.)
.....Corzine had a double-digit lead over Republican Doug Forrester, but it slid as low as 2 points after ex-wife Joanne Corzine spoke out about how he "let his family down" in an extraordinary ad........and questions to Corzine on whether an ex-girlfriend had an abortion
Forrester's staff says he intends to run the controversial ad.......through tomorrow's vote.

Corzine with one-time sweetheart Carla Katz at a New York City fund-raiser in 2002. Photo: AP. Katz is the hot pastrami---a union official---Corzine canoodled with that broke up his marriage. Corzine reportedly gave Katz some $470,000 for a "mortgage" that she never applied for. The more cynical say he paid her off bigtime as a campaign scheme to get her union to support him. Women might ask why Corzine had to pay 46-year old Katz $470,000 for a roll in the hay. That's mighty expensive sex.
Even more damaging, Corzine embraced the corrupt governor, Dumbocrat McGreevey, whose moral wreckage heaped scorn on that state, and incalcuable damage. McGay's most notorious crime against the state was appointing his boyfried, Golan Cipel, to direct the state's Homeland Security at a salary of $110,00 plus a Mercedes SUV, and a publicly-funded expense account.
Here's the two Dumbos Cipel and McGay at their "prom" the day they met----the lovebirds met two weeks after then-Woodbridge Mayor McGreevey proposed marriage to his now ex-wife----and brought Cipel to the US, housed closeby McGreevey's mayoral office. Israeli national Cipel couldn't get US security clearance b/c he was a citizen of a foreign country. Not satisfied with undermining national security, Cipel then figured he'd extort the taxpayers, and threatened a sexual harrassment lawsuit against the governor which precipitated McGay's resignation. When he resigned amidst a fanfare of publicity, McGreevey claimed he'd "just found out" he was gay (poster laughs uproariously).
Althought Corzine didn't go to Israel and bring back a lover as a way to pander to the hyphenate vote, voters wonder what they will suddenly discover about Corzine's sexual proclivities.
Corzine gives every appearance of being a slimeball.
That's b/c Corzine is a slimeball.
How much cash did Corzine tithe to the Shilo Bapatist Church. I am certain that is his place of worship on any given Sunday.
One bit of advice for NJ Dems: Remember NOLA.
The so-called "separation of church and state" only bothers the Left when Christian pastors tell their congregations to go vote. Having liberal Democrats make campaign speeches in black churches is as American as apple pie. These charlatans live by the double standard, but that doesn't bother the msm at all.
which implies..."but if it's your will for Forrester to win, then screw you, God!"
G'mornin' Liz..I think Doug pulls this one out.. NJ polls have historically UNDERESTIMATED the dissaffected electorate, when they decide to throw the bums out...Bell, just losing to Bradley, and Whitman beating Florio..we shall see..
A Baptist church, huh?Shows up to convince everybody he's such a loyal christian, I guess.
Really, God. We only care about Your Will if it conforms with established leftist principles and RAT election goals.
So is Barack Obama.
He can't screw up the state bigger than I did.
Excellent advice to voters everywhere.
Yup. You get what you vote for.
Heheh........my, you are observant.
What I don't understand is why the big-haired bimbo never got implants, seeing her sugar daddy was paying for everything, although $470,000 for a roll in the hay with Carla was a little exorbitant.
I can't fault her good sense on that matter.
The IRS rule against campaigning in a tax exempt church does not apply to Democrats. It's in the language. It clearly says " These restrictions against campaigning in churches only apply to adults. Children and Democrats are not effected by this regulation.
I still hold out hope that the video tape of a drunk Corzine mocking Blacks while with Carla Katz on a Greek Isles cruise, will come out.
