ARIS, France (CNN) -- Protesters in France expanded their arson rampage into the capital city of Paris and along Mediterranean resort communities as the nation's Interior Ministry predicted the violence would grow by daybreak Sunday.
Police helicopters flew over Paris and other locations in an effort to identify and stop the vandals, French radio said.
The latest violence, sparked by the deaths of two teenagers in suburban Paris, spread west to the Normandy region and south to the Mediterranean. In the resort cities of Cannes and Nice, where arson was reported.
By early Sunday, more than 800 cars had been burned, 144 people detained and several police officers and firefighters injured after a 10th night of rioting across France, according to national police spokesman Patrick Hamon.
Thirteen cars were torched in Paris, including several in the Place de la Republique in the central city.
In the Normandy city of Evreux, five police officers and three firefighters were injured when two schools, a post office, a shopping center and 50 cars were burned, Hamon said. A child care center was burned in Lille in northern France.
Two schools in Grigny, south of Paris, were set ablaze and firefighters responded to 30 reports of arson in Toulouse, in southern France, the Interior Ministry said. Several cars were on fire and several trash cans were burning outside public buildings.
A cultural center in the central city of Nantes was destroyed by fire, and a youth hostel burned in Paris, the ministry said. (Watch French teens explain why they're angry -- 2:08)

Hope that State puts a country wide travel advisory out.
And thanks to the virtues of socialism, no one was killed. Riiiiiiight.
Have they surrendered yet?
They better wake up quickly!
I read earlier today on FOXnews website that a French mayor (not sure if it was Paris or not) was quoted as saying something to the effect, "we don't want an armed militia here, there must be something we can do to stop the violence". DUH. Dream on mayor!
A large and present militia and a mandatory curfew in these areas would help a lot. How about cutting off their power to these neighborhoods until they cease the attacks? Next step, stop all shipments of LAMB and HUMMUS into these neighborhoods. There..that'll fix 'em.
Call me crazy but this looks more and more like the beginning of the 21st Century Crusades...
Other FReepers are saying anywhere from 4 to "fewer than 2 dozen" were killed tonight. Haven't seen it sourced yet.
Now you've gone too far.
Can't the military put a stop to this?
Wouldn't it take 10 min to end with shoot to kill orders?
Me soooooo Confused arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
I'm really sorry, but {{snicker}}.
Why does "As Ye Sew, So Shall Ye Reap" come to mind? {{SNICKER!}
thanks for the craving. and i am working until 6am EST!
tell them they have 24 hours to stop rioting or snipers will be ordered in with order to shoot to kill anyone destroying public or private property.
Correction: Insurgents in France

LOL! They march but refuse to organize militias. Why, I bet they are willing stand down from their Holy War now that you've shown how civilized you can be.
For 10 days police, government and community leaders have been struggling to restore order, and debating how to quell the unrest that began October 27 in the Paris suburb of Clichy-sous-Bois.
refer it to the U.N. No one debates like those folks.
Mediators and religious leaders are talking to the youths in an effort to stop the violence.
And I think we begin to see why this is in it's tenth day. Seems the "M" they dare not speak by name is winning round one in this uprising. When's the last time France won a war?
First New Orleans and now France. The complete impotence of liberalism has been on full display in recent months.
I wonder what would happen if French people living in North Africa did these sorts of crimes? I figure they would be annihilated for their isolence.
Also, anyone notice that it is the Africans (North and South) who seem to be bellyaching? There are many immigrant groups in France -- not all of them are behaving so criminally.
