US war drill against Iran in February (THE WAR IS COMING)

The US special forces will conduct a massive war drill near the Gulf of Oman to apparently convey a message to Iran that blocking the sea routes in the event of hostilities won’t be possible.

The US defence department during a classified briefing to the senate armed forces committee said Iran is laying powerful underwater and surface water mines in the Strait of Hormuz but within its own territory.

The Pentagon suspects it is an offensive strategy, and Iran is training its forces to lay mines that could play havoc in a sea war.

To counter this, the US has already urged Russia and China not to sell sea mines to Iran or related advanced technologies which could be used against America and its allies in the region.

The US war drill in the Gulf of Oman could take place around February 2006 and there is a possibility that some Nato members may send their warships and troops to join.

Alongwith the US, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE and Yemen will participate, while Britain, The Netherlands, Spain and Italy have expressed a desire for such a war drill.

During the drill, the US and its allies will practice their minesweeping skills, and exercise their anti-submarine warfare, long-range maritime reconnaissance, and sea to surface attack capabilities.

There is still the concept of the nuclear threshhold, which means that no one wants to start using nukes because the threshhold would be crossed and all others would be free to use their own nukes however they want. Not even a tac nuke. This is why Israel should be kept out of it if at all possible: Israel would soon be forced to cross the nuclear threshhold if a serious shooting war starts and goes badly, which is likely if Egypt jumps in.

Sounds right. And yes, Israel needs to stay out of this mess...

I'd say level anything that looks like it might be used to make a nuclear weapon or lay a mine. Let them read by candlelight for the next 20 years, but absolutely no U.S. ground troops in Iran.

How about just a few to mark the targets that our satellites already discovered have certain radiation levels? All it takes is a lot of running around and placing objects next to them in darkness. Then they leave.

Okay! I won't mention that English special ops have been working with them. It's the same that was done before the invasion of Iraq. The trick for the defenders is to find the target markers. Hmm, what would they look like? RFID is nearly impossible to find unless you know what you are looking for, and they are so small you could look all over and around your entire installation for months and not see even one when there are hundreds.

Yes, they are small and could double or triple frequencies and modulation type with a small battery current for months. You can only detect it with a specific kind of spectrum analyzer set up in a certain way. That was years ago. I assume the ones today have electronic countermeasures built in that render it undetectable.

Right. They couldn't be found even with scanners unless they have the right code, which is near impossible.

I repair TACAN antennas once in a while. The modulation frequency also had something called the "Code of the Day" for military aircraft transponders. It's interesting how you can modulate a carrier wave and sweep a band while also transferring information signals. That tech is going way above 60 Gigahertz today.

If we have hostilities with either Iran or Syria it will be a clear indication that we have failed diplomatically and in our leadership of the European and Asian industrialized nations. We have already pretty well established that this administration is incompetent in accomplishing anything except perhaps a tax benefit to the wealthiest (hell, I benefit from the tax legislation, but I recognize how wrong-headed it is).
