The US special forces will conduct a massive war drill near the Gulf of Oman to apparently convey a message to Iran that blocking the sea routes in the event of hostilities wont be possible.
The US defence department during a classified briefing to the senate armed forces committee said Iran is laying powerful underwater and surface water mines in the Strait of Hormuz but within its own territory.
The Pentagon suspects it is an offensive strategy, and Iran is training its forces to lay mines that could play havoc in a sea war.
To counter this, the US has already urged Russia and China not to sell sea mines to Iran or related advanced technologies which could be used against America and its allies in the region.
The US war drill in the Gulf of Oman could take place around February 2006 and there is a possibility that some Nato members may send their warships and troops to join.
Alongwith the US, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE and Yemen will participate, while Britain, The Netherlands, Spain and Italy have expressed a desire for such a war drill.
During the drill, the US and its allies will practice their minesweeping skills, and exercise their anti-submarine warfare, long-range maritime reconnaissance, and sea to surface attack capabilities.

Sounds right. And yes, Israel needs to stay out of this mess...
I'd say level anything that looks like it might be used to make a nuclear weapon or lay a mine. Let them read by candlelight for the next 20 years, but absolutely no U.S. ground troops in Iran.
All your oil are belong to us!
For great justice!
But what will Cindy Sheehan say...
Whoever you are, it's in your interest to stay away from men with weapons.
How about just a few to mark the targets that our satellites already discovered have certain radiation levels? All it takes is a lot of running around and placing objects next to them in darkness. Then they leave.
I remember that song parody!
Hush! Americans are not alone with this one.
Okay! I won't mention that English special ops have been working with them. It's the same that was done before the invasion of Iraq. The trick for the defenders is to find the target markers. Hmm, what would they look like? RFID is nearly impossible to find unless you know what you are looking for, and they are so small you could look all over and around your entire installation for months and not see even one when there are hundreds.
Yes, they are small and could double or triple frequencies and modulation type with a small battery current for months. You can only detect it with a specific kind of spectrum analyzer set up in a certain way. That was years ago. I assume the ones today have electronic countermeasures built in that render it undetectable.
Right. They couldn't be found even with scanners unless they have the right code, which is near impossible.
It will always be a man's job until a woman can sit in a chair and make it work:):)
What a waste of a brain!
About touching me personally: I have two sons & a grandson in theater--2 Army (both majors) & the grandson a Marine Lt.
I'd suggest that touches me personally every day...

I guess it does...Then you should understand what this is about or would you have preferred Kerry to be CIC? Would you then be calling Kerry a LIAR, Coward, Gigalo and Banal fool? Ignoring the Enemy as Clinton did is good Foreign Policy? Sipping Tea with Korea's Pres by Mad Albright is good Foreign Policy? Selling missile secrets to China is good Commerce Policy? Using the IRS and Justice Dept to go after enemies is OK? Collecting FBI files and releasing Linda Tripp's personal reviews is OK? And let's not mention dead bodies in Ft. Marcey Park with little blood...
