Washington Post ^ | ABC

For the first time in his presidency, a majority of Americans question the integrity of President Bush, and growing doubts about his leadership have left him with record negative ratings on the economy, Iraq and even the war on terrorism, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

the integrity

What is this? Is a person not allowed to evolve as his understanding increases, and must a person hold the same views as everybody else on everything? The president is heavily constrained in what he can say simply because he holds office. When he is out to pasture, we might get some of what he really thinks.

I have to agree with you. Who is this administrations version of Carville, Bagalla, Stephanopolis? You couldn't turn on a TV (still really can't) during Clinton days without one of them putting out the Clinton spin. Where is our Carville screaming about the sucess of the elections in Iraq, the good economic news, the lies of Wilson, et al? This President should be at 60% given the news, but he is awful at PR. Even the White House press guy McClellan looks like a deer in the headlights most days. Why isn't the White House screaming about who at CIA sent Wilson to Niger anyway? Where is his report? Why did CIA permit him to talk about a supposedly classified trip in the freaking NY times? Any the F leaked that we have secret prisons in foreign countries? The forehead certainly would be screaming if this happened under Slick Willies watch. And it would be working. Heck he lied under oath, lied directly to the American people, got others to lie, put forth false affidavits in a court case and the only one who got prosecuted was Linda Trip! Republicans in general but this President in particular suck at PR. Heck Hillary had missing billing records that had previously been subpoenaed show up in her personal office with her fingerprints all over and Ken Star is the one the American people ended up distrusting. We such at this stuff, but Bush is really awful!

This is depressing... for those that think it doesn't matter,

They stacked the poll to get the result they wanted. It's posted right here on FRee Republic:

Biased ABC/Post Poll Oversample Democrats over Republicans by 11 Points: 52% Dem., 41% Rep., 6% Ind>

I hope that helps.

We need Karen Hughes back in the White House full time

You've nailed it! The economy is booming and it's always been the economy that people think of first, unless there is a major story that bumps it to the back burner as 9/11 did when almost the entire country rallied around the President.

High gasoline prices have done more to shake the confidence in this Presidency than anything else and now that they are beginning to recede the administration should be on the offensive and it's not. Karen Hughes may be the answer and I hope she's back in the White House soon.

Well said!

ALL of these MSM pollsters are manipulating their results by oversampling/overweighting Democrats and Democrat-leaning Independents.

AP/Ipsos Reid routinely oversamples Democrats by DOUBLE DIGITS -- their current poll features 50% Democrats: 38% Republicans.

CBSNews discovered that oversampling Democrats by 8 points wasn't enough in their most recent poll so they WEIGHTED their sample in such a way that it dropped an already anemic representation of Republicans from approximately 28% to 23% -- HEY CBS, WHY EVEN BOTHER INCLUDING REPUBLICANS IN YOUR SAMPLE?!

ABCNews/WashCompost doesn't release its sampling data; however, given that their results are similar to those manufactured by AP and CBS, I think we can conclude that they too grossly oversampled Democrats/Democrat-leaning Independents.

BOTTOMLINE: MSM pollsters are manufacturing data designed to advance the liberal agenda . . . nothing more nothing less. They know that because the President will never again stand for re-election, their polling data will never again be evaluated against the only polls that matter!

Fortunately, the President will continue to lead regardless of the polling data and the incessant MSM attacks. However, it is time for Republican congressmen (Senate and House) and Republican voters to help with some of the heavy lifting!!

Is this the poll where only 24% of those polled were Republicans?

If so, the MSM needs to be exposed.

This "poll" is explained in a later thread - heavily dem (over 50%) with fewer Republicans.

FoxNews/Opinion Dynamics has never posted a poll showing the President with lower than a 41% approval rating. [Given that FN/OD blew their Election 2004 prediction by 5 points, I always add at least that many points to whatever approval rating they happen to manufacture.]

BTW: Only ONE pollster is currently running a TRACKING POLL and that pollster, RASMUSSEN, has consistently shown the President performing within an 8 point range -- 40% - 48% (adults); 43% -51% (likely voters). [NOTE: Rasmussen still oversamples Democrats; however, he does so by 2-3 points vs double digits!]

The Bush administration has the weakest press secretary imaginable in McClellan ... so it should be easy to see why mainstream conservatives would be concerned about Bush's choice of Miers for the SC. This evening new revelations are coming forth on x FEMA Director Brown ... no wonder there's a disconnect between middle of the road conservatives and the second term Bush administration. To this point the Bushies are trying to play catch up ... and frankly, are looking pathetic.

I agree with you, however the difference between the Rasmussen results and this poll is only 4 points so we are not talking double digits in the actual result.

Rasmussen points out that the President's numbers are at an all time low and that can not be ignored. It is time for this administration to go on the offensive. And not only the administration but more Republican members of Congress need to get assertive. Isn't that what the Democrats are doing 24/7?

Just take "Poll" out of the headline - that would make it reasonably accurate.

Actually, the difference between Rasmussen's 42:56 (-14) and ABCNews/WashPost's 39:60 (-21) does indicate the difference between a 2-3 point Democrat advantage and a double digit advantage.

Yes, the President is at a low ebb for his presidency; however, he is NOT at a low ebb for contemporary presidents.

GALLUP LOWS
35% Reagan
29% Bush 41
37% Clinton
39% Bush 43

Additionally, the only other contemporary presidents to command HOT wars -- Truman and LBJ -- suffered JA approval ratings so low that they were unable to run for re-election.

Bush 43 has already been re-elected -- these polls are nothing more than MSM sour grapes!

It is only depressing if you let it --- President Bush will continue on his path - there will be no 'poll watching' no 'legacy watching' - so let the MSM continue on with this crap. They make up lies!!!

FOx polls were way off during the election in 2004 .
They play with the figures .
Fox News has shifted to the left.
Today ,I heard the Fox new radio
and I thought it was a NPR .
They did nothing but trash Bush and spout out
DNC press releases . It was so bad I called Fox radio in NYC and complained to the staff in the news room.
I gave then a ear full . They were shocked !
There NYC reporters are all extreme liberals.
That Fair and balanced is just a LINE
