I read a report this morning that the Interior Minister of France thinks that the State should fund Mosques and Muslim Associations now. (rolling eyes) It will not be long until France is under Sharia Law. Wonder how Madonna is going to cope with a burka?

The argument that he is making is that the French state should fund all mosques and Muslim schools. In this way, no foreign entities will be allowed to fund such institutions but only the French taxpayer - the French government will have total carte blanche over the official organs of Islam in France, up to and including the right to select or fire imams.

So far, they have rarely even used the word "Muslim" in any of the news reports.

Their concern is that just banning the donations won't work - money will be laundered for that purpose. Same thing with banning incendiary sermons - there aren't enough Arabic-speaking undercover policemen in France to survey each mosque.

If the French government directly handles the funds for a mosque they know exactly how much money the mosque has and from what source. Likewise, if they directly vet imams, they will be able to root out extremists.
