ALL four July 7 suicide bombers were tracked by security services a year before they attacked London. But the surveillance operation was ditched after intelligence officers decided there was nothing suspicious about their behaviour, sources said last night.
The revelation comes as Tony Blair's plans to create a law against glorifying terrorism were torn apart by rebel MPs.
Shades of Able Danger?
The FBI agent who called off the surveillance was pushed out of the FBI and he was then hired by Christie Whitman to be the Superintendent of Police.
His name was Dunbar.
Yes, that will go down as a huge blunder.
The FBI knew exactly who to look for and where to find them.
Guiliani pushed for a closer examination of the boxes in Nosair's garage, and the links were right there but not "discovered" until after the first World Trade Center bombing.
The intelligence officers must have felt guilty about profiling the boys.
You ever worked in a surveillance operation, they are expensive and very man hours resource hungry.
We don't live in a world of infinite resources.
There was the same problem in North Ireland, too many potential targets not enough resources.
The problem is working out who is a blow hard (Walter Mitty) and who is a potential bomber.
I remember before the election on here quite a few were talking about what they would like to do to Clinton when he was President.
Are they potential assassins or just blowing of steam.
We have a professional and well experienced security apparatus but we still make mistakes, sadly this was a bad one.
