In its coverage of revelations in the Washington Post that the CIA maintains secret prisons around the world to confine top Al-Qaida members, Today at least twice displayed an Abu Ghraib photo.

It is clear that enemies of the Bush administration within the CIA are floating this secret prison trial balloon.

We think Carter's bad - wait til Clinton is his age and still trying to find a legacy.

Unresolved rage at the Nixon administration, and widespread Main-Stream Media condemnation of a good but not especially assertive man, Gerald Ford. If Ford so much as stumbled, snide remarks of "Playing football without a helmet" were repeated again and again.

Well yeah ... I guess my question should be, why the hell did the Democrats settle for Carter? At least Clinton had that used-car-salesman thing going for him, "I feel your pain" and all that. But even from a Dem's point of view, I can't see the appeal of Jimmy Carter.

What these anti-America scum bags are ignoring is the fact that Geneva convention rules have never eased the suffering of one US troop in captivity. We are the only country on earth that abides by the Geneva Convention or any other rules for humane treatment of enemy prisoners. Our troops are abused mercilessly regardless of who their captives are or have been.

In my opinion, the families of American troops who are prisoners of the enemy or are in a position where they could become a prisoner of the enemy, would be comforted to know they would be treated no worse than those prisoners at Abu Ghraid, Gitmo or elsewhere.

Carter's comments and attitude, merely exposes the fact that the old democrats were the same kind of SOBs as the new democrats, they just weren't in such a frenzy of desperation as the new dems.

Nov 4, 1980. Twenty five years ago this week! Carter goes down to one of the most humiliating defeats for any incumbent president. He barely manages to carry 6 states, and only got an outright majority of the popular vote in one--his own. Carter got a whopping 9% of the electoral vote.

I almost felt sorry for him when he gave his early concession speech. Now I revel in his humiliation! Live with the shame Jimmy. :)

I was one of the millions of Americans tortured by Carter here at home by stagflation and, in my case, a 14% home mortgage rate. Carter should be kicked out of the US for good since he loves sucking up to world dictators so much.

Carter applying the 'Kerry-Maneuver' to perfection:

When 'spooked'... head your vessel AWAY from the area at high-speed.

The Dems didn't really have much to choose from at the time.

IIRC, Ted Kennedy was considered to be the front runner, but he either dropped out or lost some primaries (I am getting my elections mixed up, but in the 1970s, Teddy was always considered the Dem front runner until he either bowed out or the polls went against him).

Poor old Jimmy; he's trying SO hard to be relevant.

He wasn't relevant as President ... after one disastrous term he was gone. Now if only he would stay gone ... but the libs in the media keep trotting him out so he can make yet another inane comment.

Carter is fairly high on my "people I'd like to see tarred and feathered" list.

They awarded this Looney Tune the Nobel Peace Prize. Unfortunately, that stipend makes his periodic
remarks obligatory, like the annual creation of the
Poet Laureate.

He's so dense he doesn't realize that if he'd just
keep hammering those nails for Habitat for Humanity
instead of opening his mouth, he'd do wonders to
refurbish his reputation.

Wow. I didn't think about that.

Sure doesn't seem like 25 years ago. Man, I'm gettin' old. :0)

"When Carter passes away, I bet there wont be any large crowds of people like there were with Ronald Reagan."

The difference is that the crowds go to Reagan's grave to honor him. They'll go to Carter's grave to urinate on it.

He was their permanent candidate until he took Mary Jo for the fateful ride in his Oldsmobile submarine-declared her the captain and swam away leaving her to go down with the boat.

Carter gave his crappy concession speech with Jesse Jackson up on stage with him. Gave me all that much more pleasure in enjoying Carter's humiliating defeat! How mean of me. Too bad.

A few hours later President elect RONALD REAGAN gave his victory speech. What a great feeling. Thankfully America made the right choice and we are all better off for it.

LOL--between Carter and Kennedy, that ain't much of a beauty contest :)

Didn't Kennedy hate Carter? It seems like he gave Carter the cold-shoulder at the '76 Dem convention. Wouldn't even shake his hand. (hahaha)

After the Chappaquiddick incident of July 19, 1969 Ted Kennedy was never a viable 'Rat candidate for POTUS ... he may have garnered some lip service from the 'Rats ... but no one gave him any chance.
