Some more chum has just been thrown into the water, and Jimmy Carter is out trolling for whatever way he can, to express his absolute HATRED of any vision of America that would ever allow the Republican party to gain leadership position. The comfortable position he had carved out for himself as a "significant" person has been threatened, perhaps irreparably damaged, by revelations of his incompetence and short-sighted discharge of the duties of President. In his own eyes, Jimmy is the ultimate "good" person, doncha see, and anything that detracts from that personal vision of himself is necessarily evil and mean-spirited. He strives mightily, but can only succeed in pulling down the roof upon himself, and anyone else who happens to be under that roof. Including all of America, if that is what it takes.
The Wall Street Journal has a review of this despicable man's latest "book" which is filled with lavish self-praise, hatred for America, and believe it or not, adoration for the likes of the leaders of Syria, North Korea and the late, but still very ugly and corrupt, Yassir Arafat. I guess the bitterness lingers when you lose the presidency in a landslide and are ranked the 42nd out of 44 presidents.
Carter needs to be 'woodshedded' by the GWB or his Secretary of State (Rice). Maybe Billy-boy would sit-up & take notice, too.
How the hell was Carter ever elected president?
"When Carter passes away, I bet there wont be any large crowds of people like there were with Ronald Reagan."
I would go just to be sure he was really dead!
IMPORTANT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I went back and reviewed the tape of the show.
Katie Couric opened the show by asking "could there be another Abu Ghraib out there?" At the same moment, the screen displayed a photo of a prisoner in a degrading position.
A viewer could have easily been misled into believing that this was a photo from one of the secret prisons. The photo was displayed later in the half-hour, and it was only then that it appeared that it was taken at Abu Ghraib.
I blame Clinton. Up until him, ALL ex-presidents kept a low profile after leaving office. But BJC seems to think the rules don't apply to him.
Since he became active, he somehow got Carter to think HE should be active.
Someone needs to say the word "stagflation" to Carter and tell him to go back to building houses for the undeserving.
Jimmy Carter, Georgia's very own nut farmer.
Mr. Peanut is one of the worst endangerers of American values. I'd like to send him a bill for the Panama Canal.
Old Presidents may well die, but the surely never shut up.
No doubt about it.
I lived through the Carter years. Though I was glad to see him swept from office, for years I liked the man and thought him to be a classy and good guy.
But, the last 5 or 6 years have changed my mind about him. He has mutated into a bitter, hateful partisan hack with nothing but venom to spew at those with whom he disagrees.
I think constantly hearing about his "failed presidency" and the subsequent appropriate veneration of the man who blew his doors off in 1980 has finally taken it's toll.
Is Jimmah any nearer the grave? I'm really tired of his whining.
Unresolved rage at the Nixon administration, and widespread Main-Stream Media condemnation of a good but not especially assertive man, Gerald Ford. If Ford so much as stumbled, snide remarks of "Playing football without a helmet" were repeated again and again.
I only pray that when carter finally passes from this world, his "shadow state department" dies quickly too.
I think he should be given his own The Carter Factor
I think if the MSM really wanted to make the GOP uncomfortable, they should award President Carter his own television show ala 60 Minutes.
Have to head out now. Look forward to reading all comments when I return.
Follow the links on this thread, and then get back to us on the "horrors" of panties-on-the head "torture" of murdering terrorists at Abu Ghraib.
Hint: the victim there is an ~8 year-old Iranian child...
Not me!
I would go to pi$$ on his grave...but after dealing with the Motor Vehicle Administration I swore I would never stand in a line again!
No - no doubt whatsoever. What a loser.
Yes. It was all about Watergate. People who didn't live through it cannot fathom what a big story Watergate was at the time. Aside from the terrorist attacks on 9/11/01, no story in recent times is even close.
It was everywhere: the TV news, newspapers, sitcoms, billboards, talk shows......everywhere. Afternoon soap operas and game shows were canceled for weeks at a time so witness after witness could testify on live TV, hour after hour after hour. It was the most pervasive news story of my lifetime.
I remember watching the Tonight Show with my mom. David Steinberg was the guest host, and when he walked on stage my mom said "If he says something about Watergate, I'll scream! I'm sick of hearing about it!"
The first words out of his mouth: "The Watergate investigation........." That's just the way it was in 1973-1974.
By 1976, people were sick of it. Most viewed Nixon as a crook and Ford as his enabler for:
1. being hand picked by Nixon to succeed him; and
2. pardoning Nixon for any crimes he may have committed during the Watergate scandal.
Most just wanted to sweep the whole thing away, and Carter was a fresh face who smiled a lot and promised change.
Even then, it was a very close election, with Carter barely pulling out a win late in the night.
