The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

I didn't see it posted here today - but on the local news (Portland) there was an elementary school shut down in Vancouver WA. today. Over 100 kids sick with a "norwalk like" virus. They went on to explain that a norwalk like virus is the same type of virus that hit the cruise ships.

Rioting in French suburbs 'well organized'

So says Sarkozy, via the Drudge Report:

French Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy said Thursday that the riots in several Paris suburbs over the previous night were "not spontaneous" but rather "well organized."
"What we saw in the department of Seine-Saint-Denis overnight was not spontaneous, it was perfectly organized. We are looking into by whom and how," Sarkozy told French news channel i-tele.

The interior minister also said the government would not allow "troublemakers, a bunch of hoodlums, think they can do whatever they want" in the country.

The rioting in Denmark was planned for three weeks.

Muslim rioting in Denmark -- worst riots in years
"Several days of Muslim Riots in Denmark (Not only in France)," a translation of this Jyllands Posten piece from Free Republic (thanks to Shiva):

For several nights in a row, there has been the worst riots in Århus for many years.
"This land belongs to us", declared the young rioters. Another arson attack took place sunday night.

Sunday evening the fire department needed police escorts to get in and extinguish an arsonist fire in Søndervangs Alle.

The words of the young Muslims sound like an open declaration of war against Danish society. The police must stay away. This area belongs to immigrants.

Four youngsters sit at the wall in the Rosenhøj center, sunday afternoon, self decleared spokesmen, for those groups who three nights in a row has rioted, and put business on fire.

All around the parking lot, there are swarms of cars with youngster from the immigrant community, who are celebrating the worst riots in Århus in several years.

Every night, 30 to 40 immigrant youngsters participated. Only two are under arrest.

It was a victory.

"We knew that you would come. We are the spokesmen", said one young man with his face covered.

He was angry. Very angry.

Petrol though the window.

At the back of the house was a window broken, and the fire was burning wildly, probably because of petrol that had been thrown in.

The fire engines waited for police escort so they could enter in and try to put out the fires.

Bricks from the street have been thrown and crushed windowns all up the street.

The police reports that the youngsters came to the area armed with rocks that they brought in.

Rocks against a bakery.

Saturday, a 16 year old from Somalia was jailed for comitting dangerous violence, because he attacked a bakery with large rocks. One rock barely missed the baker's face.

Raids.

"We are tired of being oppressed. We are tired of the police raiding our parents. We are tired of the police stopping our cars, and raiding us in public and damaging our honour."

"We are tired of the police beating up our friends, like they did this afternoon", screams the young man with his face covered.

He calles himself 100 percent palestinian, born in a refugee camp in Lebanon, 19 years ago, and is now unemployed in Denmark.

"The police has to stay away. This is our area. We rule this place."

And then comes the cartoons of Mohammed.

"We are angy to what has happened to our prophet. We are tired of the Jyllands Post (Danish paper who published cartoons of Mohammed). I know that it wasn't you, but we are not going to take this, what the Jyllands Post has done towards the prophet", he states aggressivly, and the others nod in agreement.

Planned for three weeeks.

Two of them are Turks, and it is the first time that Turks and Palestinians have joined forces, according to the spokesman.

"We have planned this for three weeks. That's why only two were arrested on Saturday. Police tried to block us in, but we now how to get out", he states and dissapears chewing on a piece of pizza that he has looted from Fun Pizza.

Canada Border Services Agency seizes weapons at Quebec border crossing

ST-BERNARD-DE-LACOLLE, Que. (CP) - Almost 400 weapons and fake guns have been seized by the Canada Border Services Agency.

The shipment from New Jersey includes knives and clubs and was recently seized at St-Bernard-de-Lacolle in Quebec, near the U.S. border. No arrests have been made so far but the investigation is continuing. However, the seizure resulted in Canadian border agents searching two Montreal flea markets and a business where other weapons were discovered.

Agency spokeswoman Nicole Barsalou says about 6,000 weapons other than firearms were seized by the agency in 2004, almost three times as many as in 2002.

But she says the number of firearms seized at the border hasn't increased significantly.

Police stopped one of the young terrorist suspects a week before his arrest for behaving suspiciously outside a Copenhagen football stadium. A Danish-Israeli football match might have been the group's target

One of the young men arrested last week on suspicion of plotting a terror attack was stopped two weeks ago, as police discovered him 'behaving suspiciously' outside a football stadium in the Copenhagen suburb of Brøndby.

The young man is one of six young radical Muslims arrested in Copenhagen last week, after the discovery of a large suicide bombing arsenal in the Bosnian capital of Sarajevo was traced to their Danish addresses.

Police are now investigating whether there are any links between the alleged terror plans and the Brøndby Stadium, where a football match was held on Thursday evening between the Brøndby club and Israeli team Maccabi Petah-Tivka.

National broadcaster DR reported that police would neither confirm nor deny that the match had been the target of a possible terror attack.

'We are aware of press reports of the case, but we don't know precisely where a possible terror attack was supposed to take place,' said police spokesman Erik Johansen of the Glostrup Police.

Police had already planned massive security measures during the match, and a large police force was dispatched to protect players and the expected 29,000 spectators from a possible terror attack.
