The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

This post was from rural St. Bernard Parish where I had gone to retrieve my parents. Long story short, one is bed-ridden and both refused to leave. Anticipating that they would probably not leave, I had come semi-prepared for the long haul.

Thanks to much of what I had read here on TM I had some idea as to what I needed. About 10-15 minutes after the above post, we lost electricity and a few hours later the floods came. We spent a week in the crow's nest (small 3rd floor area) before some Canadian firefighters pulled us out (on Labor Day). A week of bottled juices and water, not to mention cans of tuna and chicken can leave one thankful, but sick of canned food (beef jerky was another favorite). While I remained locked and loaded, we were too far out and the devastation was too great for looters.

I appreciate the prayers and the advice from those here. This is not the time to assess blame, it took 70 years of failed government policies, state and fed, to get to where we are now, not to mention individual greed, corruption and ineptness.

Please don't waste space with replies, you can freepmail if you want. In a lot of regards, I'm still in shock, but mom and pops are doing OK, I feel like I served them well as their son AND WE ARE THANKFUL TO BE ALIVE IN THE GREATEST COUNTRY ON EARTH!

Tehran, Iran, Nov. 25 – Radical Islamists allied with hard-line Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called this week for Iran to confront United States forces in Iraq.

Ansar-e Hezbollah, an ultra-conservative government-run body fiercely loyal to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, wrote in the latest edition of its weekly paper Yatharat al-Hossein that Iran had a religious duty to defend the “occupied lands of Iraq”.

“Our strategy in the occupied lands of Iraq, taking into consideration the efforts by America to take complete control of the country with the second largest oil reserves of the world, make our duties for the region clear in the present circumstances”, the group wrote in its weekly publication.

The group said that the U.S. was introducing “American Islam” in Iraq in place of theocratic Islam, citing recent remarks by Iraqi President Jalal Talabani who visited Iran earlier this week, as a “negative example” of the effects of moderate Islam.

“Based on the teachings of pure Islam and without any moderate posturing, we must oppose deviant currents in this arena and fight off the aggressors in Islamic lands following the teachings of the Quran. Of course, we are ready to carry out the orders of the Supreme Leader as a priority”.

Al-Qaida evidence along U.S. border?

A U.S. senator says he's been shown "anecdotal evidence" suggesting an Arabic presence along the U.S.-Mexico border, noting the Bush administration has not publicly released the information because it is "a matter of intelligence."

Human Events reported that Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, head of the Senate Judiciary Committee's subcommittee on Immigration, Border Security and Citizenship, has seen beverage boxes with Arabic language and other items, including the image of a commercial airliner striking a building.

SADDAM AIDES LEAD INSURGENCY AS ISLAMISTS

LONDON [MENL] -- Aides of deposed President Saddam Hussein,
under the guise of Al Qaida fighters, have been leading the insurgency
against the U.S.-led coalition in Iraq.

Islamic sources said many of the Al Qaida-aligned cells that have
appeared over the last two years stemmed from units in the Saddam
military. The sources said Baathist operatives have adopted Islamic
identities to exploit support among Muslims for Al Qaida.

The Baathist strategy was formed during Saddam's rule, the sources
said. They pointed to the "Return to Faith Campaign" directed by
then-Iraqi Vice President Izzat Ibrahim Al Douri, which sought to curry
favor from Islamic fundamentalists in Iraq and the Gulf. Earlier this
month, Saddam supporters claimed Al Douri died.

In October 2005, a leading Al Qaida-aligned web forum, Al Farouq
[www.al-farouq.com] posted an article that detailed the
transformation of Saddam units into Al Qaida-aligned cells. The
article, signed "The Degenerate, Base Salafist," asserted that Saddam
aides were able to conduct mass-casualty strikes against Iraqis under
the banner of Islam.

Jerusalem apartment building fire bombed

Twelve firebombs were hurled at a Jerusalem apartment building
Saturday night, lightly damaging the building, police said.

There were no injuries reported in the 8:45 p.m. attack on the
building, located in the city's outlying Reches Shuafat neighborhood.

The suspected Arab assailants fled the scene.

More demands and tirades are issued forth from the unobstructed
mouth of Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. From The
Scotsman:

Iran's hard-line president has called for the Bush administration to be
tried on war crimes charges related to Iraq and denounced the West
for its stance on Iran's controversial nuclear programme.

"You, who have used nuclear weapons against innocent people, who
have used uranium ordnance in Iraq should be tried as war criminals
in courts," Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in an apparent reference to
the US.

"Who in the world are you to accuse Iran of suspicious nuclear armed
activity?" asked the Iranian president during a nationally televised
ceremony marking the 36th anniversary of the establishment of the
volunteer Basij paramilitary force.

Speaking of the Basij, Reuters reports,

Thousands of members of Iran’s volunteer militia, the basij, paraded
and formed human chains in Iranian cities on Saturday as a show of
force against international pressure on Iran’s atomic programme.

In Teheran, some 3,000 basij, clutching automatic rifles and wearing
chequered headscarves, paraded before President Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad and chanted “God is the Greatest”.

Ahmadinejad told them their militia spirit would help thwart foreign
powers in an international dispute over Iran’s atomic ambitions.

“Of course the (foreign powers) get angry when they see the power
and spirit of the militia now governs our international policy,
diplomatic relations and negotiations,” the president said. “In reply to
their anger say: Go ahead, be angry but Die in your anger.”

A statement distributed by the Global Islamic Media Front and formerly located on an radical Islamic American hosted Internet site, contained a death threat against a number of world leaders.

The site has now been suspended.

The statement (at www.alfirdaws.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&t=9116) threatens, according to the Society for Internet Research (www.internet-haganah.us/harchives/005294.html), Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, Australian Prime Minister John Howard, Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, British Prime Minister Tony Blair and U.S. President George W. Bush.

Contacted by e-mail, the Internet Haganah's Aaron Weisburd said the posting promised kidnaping to be followed by decapitation. Weisburd said according to the statement the plan is in place, including the proposed location for Berlusconi's slaughter.

The Global Islamic Media Front (GIMF) is known as the voice of al Qaeda on the Internet.

According to the Society for Internet Research (SOFIR) the statement was published on the al-Firdaws forum by "ialam al-islami," who has in the past been a prolific contributor to GIMF forums and sites.

The ominous statement is attributed to "Rakan ben Willyamz," an apparently collective name for native European converts to Islam roaming the continent, preparing to strike.

While there have been questions about the credibility of the statement, including the poor quality of the Arabic, as opposed to the first statement from the imaginary Rakan ben Willyamz (www.sofir.org/sarchives/005248.php), SOFIR said the threat shouldn't be dismissed.

"Arguments in support of the statement (if not the threat) being credible, include the fact that it was distributed by the Global Islamic Media Front. That this ‘Rakan' is a different and less-literate individual doesn't necessarily make the statement non-credible. Since when are terrorists great examples of human intelligence? Certainly there is no disputing that the countries in question are all in al-Qaida's sights ... Increasingly the global jihad is waged by ignorant thugs, and their statements are likely to reflect that."

The ben Willyamz name came to light earlier this year. The Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper (AAWSAT) reported (http://aawsat.com/english/news.asp?section=1&id=2577 ) in Aug. that ben Willyamz (or bin Williams), was being touted as someone who would "wreck havoc worldwide."

Al Qaeda's strategy "will depend on surprise such as when near simultaneous attacks were carried out in Morocco and Turkey. Al Qaeda's aim was to target the border between Europe and the Muslim world, east and west, so let this serve as a lesson to the entire west; we have arrived at your borders and no one will be able to stop us," AAWSAT reported that GIMF said on the Internet.

AAWSAT also reported that the British tabloid the Sun indicated al Qaeda was recruiting English men, and referred to six English-language web sites affiliated with al Qaeda that had published material encouraging Europeans to sign up for military training.

Earlier this year, AAWSAT reported al Qaeda warned on the al Firdaws forum, "Do not rejoice, Blair, as you will not be able to follow or halt the movements or stop al Qaeda's new soldiers Rakan bin Williams ... Al Qaeda's new soldiers were born in Europe of European and Christian parents. They studied in your schools. They prayed in your churches, and attended Sunday mass. They drank alcohol, ate pork and oppressed Muslims, but al Qaeda has embraced them, so they have converted to Islam in secret and absorbed the philosophy of al Qaeda and swore to take up arms after their brothers. They are currently roaming the streets of Europe and the United States, planning and observing in preparation for upcoming attacks."

At the time of writing, the Al-Firdaws forum was hosted by the Kentucky- based IX Webhosting. Informed of the contents of the forum reported in this story, a company employee acknowledged that the site was hosted by IX and promised an investigation. Within about an hour, this notice was on the (former) Al Firdaws forum, "Account for domain alfirdaws.org has been suspended."

The content of the Al Firdaws forum violated IX's terms of service (www.ixwebhosting.com/index.php/home.dspPage/page/info.dspTOS). A portion of the company's terms of service reads, "If inappropriate activity is detected, all accounts of the subscriber in question will be deactivated until our investigation is complete. Prior notification to the subscriber is not assured. In extreme cases, law enforcement will be contacted regarding the activity."

The Al Firdaws site was registered to Marwan Alansary of the Al Firdaws Company in Amman, Jordan.

Amazing, Granny. They caught the entire attack on video. In one article posted on the thread you linked, one spokesman from Oakland NOI mentioned that they were not associated with the attacker. Will look for more updates.

OAKLAND (KRON) -- The Nation of Islam says its members were not involved in a pair of vandalism attacks on Oakland liquor stores that were captured on surveillance video.

In a phone call to KRON 4 News, a spokesman for the group associated with Minister Louis Farrakhan, said the Nation of Islam had reviewed the security tape and cleared its members of any wrongdoing.

The owner of one of the two vandalized stores in West Oakland says he believes members of the Muslim group attacked his store because of their belief that followers of Islam shouldn't sell alcohol.

Khalid Saleh was working in his father's San Pablo Market and Liquor when a group of men dressed in suits and bow ties destroyed about $10,000 worth of liquor and refrigerated equipment, according to authorities.

The video shows a group of men sweeping dozens of liquor bottles off shelves, knocking over racks of food and smashing refrigerator doors with what appeared to be metal pipes.

"He told me, 'Don't move,' " Saleh told KRON 4's Will Tran. "He had a pistol in his hand. He said, 'we're Muslims,' and that we're selling liquor to the community and we're not supposed to be doing that."

The owners of the nearby New York Market didn't want to talk on camera about the damage to their store. Witnesses say it appears similarly dressed men also ransacked that market.

Saleh's father says he would consider hiring security but that a lone guard would be no match for a group of adult men.

Police have reportedly added extra patrols in the area to try to protect the stores, most of which are located in predominantly black neighborhoods, said Deputy Oakland Police Chief Howard Jordan.

Investigators are also reportedly looking into the incidents as hate crimes because most of the businesses are owned by Arabs or Arab-Americans, and the suspects are telling them not to sell liquor to black people, Jordan said.
