The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

What's become of bin Laden since he gave us all the slip?
Full Story

Some think he is dead, others that he is hiding because he is scared of being killed.

Whatever the reason for the strange disappearance of Osama bin Laden, not seen alive since his last mocking video statement a year ago, he is no longer the face of the global "jihad" against the West.

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi { TM 25,TM 27 }, the Jordanian responsible for some of the worst atrocities in Iraq, has become the hero of the hour on militant Islamist websites.

Shahabuddin's son found dead in US

Snip: The son of noted Muslim scholar and former MP Syed Shahabuddin, Nayyar Pervez, was found dead in mysterious conditions in a hotel room in the United States, where he was working as a professor in Columbia University. Pervez, 44, one of the youngest professors of the prestigious university, was found dead in a hotel room in New York on Thursday evening, his family members said here on Saturday.

The only son of Shahabuddin, he had been in the US for some years. He is married and has two children. His body would be flown to India on Monday, family sources added. Syed Shahabuddin, a former Janata Dal MP, is the president of All India Muslim Majlis-Mushawarrat.

Zarqawi moved headquarters to Baghdad

Snip: Yashak was given the job of setting up a secret command center and several safe houses for the new arrivals to work out of, as well as escape routes and facilities should the Americans uncover the new hideouts. It is the first time that US forces and intelligence know for sure where Zarqawi is located. They know he is now in Baghdad. A week later, the al Qaeda chief, fully aware that the Americans had pinned him down geographically, went into action.

Grenade found at Chennai airport

Snip: Sources said that the grenade was powerful enough to blow up
the entire cargo complex of the airport. <<<

Good set of articles.

OK, can you give me a better idea of where Chennai is, Nadu, does not ring my bell, unless it is near Indonesia, map looks to be the tip of Africa?

Why would someone send a grenade from London?

Davey, according to this on the sniper, he could have been part of the Zebra killings, if not too young, but would certainly have heard all the details on them.

Since when does Norovirus locations need to be a secret?

There was an attack on the terrorists this week that sounds very much like this report.

I think that Cindy posted the info on it.

It also resembles the 2004 post that I posted a few posts above this one, that talked of the Texas Jeep.

I tried googling for info on the plans for after he was dead, didn't find what I wanted.

Thank you very much for keeping us posted.

Charlotte, NC is called the Queen City. It is named after Queen Charlotte who was married to George III.

Charlotte is the headquarters for Bank of America. Also headquarters for a couple of other banks, maybe Wachovia. It's a banking center second only to Wall Street.

More detectors coming to ports to spot, stop WMD in time

The hunt for weapons of mass destruction at New Jersey ports is getting more rigorous.

Federal authorities will soon bring online 12 new gates that can detect whether a container passing through has nuclear material inside, closing a gap in port security that allows such materials to enter the United States.

The gates monitor the radioactivity level of any vehicle or container that pass through. If radioactivity is discovered, customs officers divert the truck through a second detector. The type of radioactive material present is then compared to a computer record of the contents of the container to make sure that the two match.

The gates are the final part of a multilayered strategy in which the department targets containers most likely to carry weapons, and subjects them to extra scrutiny.

And the scrutiny starts long before a ship reaches the port.

At least 24 hours before a container is shipped to the U.S., the vessel owner must send authorities here detailed information about the shipment, such as the contents, the company sending it and where the goods originated.

A computer analyzes the data, as do customs officials in New Jersey and Virginia. They look for factors that mark the container as suspicious, such as coming from a region where terrorists are known to be active or containing items that do not normally come from the area, McCabe said. About one in 10 are deemed suspicious.

Containers that raise concern are often inspected at the foreign port, McCabe said.

"The idea is to push the border as far away as possible and identify a potential problem as early in the supply chain as possible," he said.

Suspicious containers that get to New Jersey and New York are also scrutinized by customs officials such as Inspector James Ginty and his team, armed with a gamma-ray imaging system known as Vehicle and Cargo Inspection System (VACIS).

Well I think I've found a sort of confirmation of this story, at least I understand better where the jihadis are getting it from.

Here's a clip from the Washington Post story from today, that hints that Zarqawi might be among the dead.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/11/19/AR2005111901120.html

"...A U.S and Iraqi raid on a suspected al Qaeda in Iraq safe house in Mosul sparked a three-hour firefight in which four insurgents and four policemen were killed and three guerillas blew themselves up, said Gov. Duraid Kashmoulaof Nineveh province.

Iraqi and U.S forces had suspected Abu Musab Zarqawi, leader of Iraq ' s most feared insurgent group, might be at the house, Kashmoula said. Zarqawi ' s whereabouts have been the topic of a stream of murky reports; U.S military officials have said they believe Zarqawi has vowed not to be taken alive.

The U.S military was examining the dead late Saturday, the governor said. U.S military spokesmen in Baghdad said they had no information other than word of the firefight...."

3 killed in high-rise Moscow blaze

http://www.upi.com/NewsTrack/view.php?StoryID=20051119-022236-7533r

MOSCOW, Nov. 19 (UPI) -- Fire broke out on the 25th floor of a Moscow high-rise apartment building Saturday, killing at least three people, a report said.

Firefighters spent five hours fighting the blaze that burned out four apartments and prompted evacuation of more than 50 residents of the building, the Russian news agency Itar-Tass reported.

At least five people were injured.

Cause of the fire, said to be the worst ever in such a tall structure in the Russian capital, was being investigated.

"SpaceX Announces Launch Date for the Falcon 1: The World's Lowest Cost Rocket to Orbit"

"SpaceX Announces Launch Date for the Falcon 1: The World's Lowest Cost Rocket to Orbit"

PRESS RELEASE Date Released: Friday, November 18, 2005 Source: SpaceX

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "El Segundo, CA – November 18, 2005 – On Friday, November 25 at 1 p.m. (PDT), the Falcon 1 countdown to launch is expected to reach T-Zero. At that point, the hold-down clamps will release and the Falcon 1 rocket will begin its journey to orbit, accelerating to 17,000 mph (twenty-five times the speed of sound) in less than ten minutes.

Designed from the ground up by SpaceX, Falcon 1 is a two stage rocket powered by liquid oxygen and purified, rocket grade kerosene. On launch day, Falcon 1 will make history for several reasons:

It will be the first privately developed, liquid fueled rocket to reach orbit and the world's first all new orbital rocket in over a decade.

The main engine of Falcon 1 (Merlin) will be the first all new American hydrocarbon booster engine to be flown in forty years and only the second new American booster engine of any kind in twenty-five years.

The Falcon 1 is the only rocket flying 21 st century avionics, which require a small fraction of the power and mass of other systems.

It will be the world's only semi-reusable orbital rocket apart from the Shuttle (all other launch vehicles are completely expendable).

Most importantly, Falcon 1, priced at $6.7 million, will provide the lowest cost per flight to orbit of any launch vehicle in the world, despite receiving a design reliability rating equivalent to that of the best launch vehicles currently flying in the United States."

Charlotte would certainly qualify.

It is so unreal, all the connections to George.

I know they want to cripple us, and the tackling of money sources will do that, but I think it may also have something to do with all the bank accounts that have been closed around the world to stop the flow of money to al-Qaida.

Thank you for reminding us of this connection, as I had forgotten it....

It is good to see you posting again.

If they do not have proof of who the dead are, then maybe we are lucky and one is him.

That may have a lot of bearing on the re-issue of the tapes in the last couple days.

I really do not know how the terrorists will react.

Thank you for working so hard on this one.

Dr. Bill Wattenburg came on about 5 minutes ago.

His opening was about the threat of a "Crude Nuclear Device, not only one, but there will be several".

He suggested that there be conversation on the aftermath tonight, that he wants to talk about it, and how to survive, what to expect, that it could be years before we are normal again.

Chennai is in India

It must be Canada's goal to keep locations of Norovirus outbreaks unpublished as a way of protecting tourism. It has the opposite effect on me. If they can't tell me where disease outbreaks are, I don't want to risk infecting my family - we'll stay away - permanently.

By the way Granny, many cities publish restaurant inspections online. Sometimes those are pretty interesting to read:
