The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Threat Matrix - Daily Terrorism Threat
Threat Matrix: U.S. Terrorism
What's become of bin Laden since he gave us all the slip?
Full Story

Some think he is dead, others that he is hiding because he is scared of being killed.

Whatever the reason for the strange disappearance of Osama bin Laden, not seen alive since his last mocking video statement a year ago, he is no longer the face of the global "jihad" against the West.

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi { TM 25,TM 27 }, the Jordanian responsible for some of the worst atrocities in Iraq, has become the hero of the hour on militant Islamist websites.

Yep.

The comment reminded me of Afghanistan and possibly in the rugged regions of Pakistan. If I recall correctly, I made a comment to my husband when the USA went into Afghanistan, how many Toyotas there were. That was years ago, of course.

Me too. Forgetting the word I want to use AND failing to remember why I walked into a room are becoming far too frequent. I won;t elaborate on stooping down and needing to grab something so I can stand back up again....

Leader of Seattle area mosque arrested by agents

Snip: The respected leader of a Rainier Valley mosque was arrested Monday on an immigration charge, surprising those who knew his work in Seattle's Somali community. Federal agents with the Joint Terrorism Task Force arrested Abu Abrahim Sheik Mohamed at Sea-Tac Airport as he got off a domestic flight, federal criminal justice sources said.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Lorie Haley said only that Mohamed, 37, was "in custody on immigration violations" and is being held at the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma.

Off Topic: Supermarket meat may not be as fresh as you think

Snip: Under little-noted rulings over the last three years, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has allowed meat processors to use small amounts of carbon monoxide to maintain the red color in fresh meat sold in pre-assembled or "case-ready" packages.

Such packages are airtight containers assembled with the product at meat-packing plants and are not made to be reopened until they are sold to consumers. Some packages are marketed for up to 35 days, or 28 days in the case of ground beef.

Masked man on Indonesia video threatens west

Snip: "We repeat that America, Australia, England and Italy are all our enemies," said the militant, wearing a black balaclava and constantly pointing his right finger in the air.

"We especially remind Australia that you, Downer and Howard, are killing Australia, leading it into darkness and misfortune and mujahedeen terror," he said, referring to Australia's Prime Minister John Howard and Foreign Minister Alexander Downer. "Know that as long as you (all) continue to colonize the land of Iraq and Afghanistan and intimidate Muslims then you too will feel our intimidation and terror."

Happening all too frequently here. This morning, I put the sugar in the 'fridge and the cream in the cupboard. I just noticed it after dinner tonight. Cream is sour and the sugar is cold.

I still prefer the word lethologica to Altzheimer's.

I wonder how long it will be until my children (I think I have three of them) commit me.

On the physical side. I play on the floor with my grandchildren. I absolutely cannot stand up until I crawl to the coffee table for support. Even my two mile walk every morning has not solved that problem.

At least I still wake up on the green side of the grass...........er, right now, the snowy side.

Terror suspect to fight extradition

Snip: CHARLES CLARKE has ordered the extradition of a British computer expert to the US after the FBI said that he was a key al-Qaeda fundraiser. The Home Secretary’s decision yesterday on Babar Ahmad, 31, is intended to show how new extradition laws will lead to fast-track removal of terror suspects. Critics argue that this case again shows how Britain’s rules for dealing with Muslim extremists remain the most disorganised in Europe.

The French Government has been waiting ten years for Britain to hand over a suspect in the 1995 Paris Métro bombings.

Not all Muslims want to integrate

Snip: What they've reaped, alas, is a generation of Muslims, many of whom view their neighborhoods as colonies amid enemy territory - and who demand this autonomy be recognized. In Britain, imams have pressed the government to designate part of Bradford as being under Muslim law. In Belgium, Muslims in the Brussels neighborhood of Sint-Jans-Molenbeek consider it to be under Islamic jurisdiction. In Denmark, Muslim leaders have sought similar control over parts of Copenhagen. In France, an official met with an imam at the edge of Roubaix's Muslim district out of respect for his declaration that it was Islamic territory. In many cities, police have stopped patrolling certain enclaves, the authorities having effectively ceded control to local religious leaders.

Muslim and Mexican Nightmare growing in America

Snip: How deadly is Islam? Check this out from the Quran: Sura 5, verse 85 describes the inevitable enmity between Muslims and non- Muslims: "Strongest among men in enmity to the believers wilt though find the Jews and Pagans." Sura 9, verse 5, adds: "Then fight and slay the pagans whenever you find them. Convert or kill all nonbelievers." Sura 2, verse 193 states: "Fight them until Islam reigns supreme." Sura 8, verse 12 states: "Instill terror in the hearts of unbelievers…cut off their heads and cut off the tips of their fingers."

Media blamed for negative image of Muslim faith

Snip: A new report published by a Californian market research company on behalf of the Kuwaiti government found the US and European media were in part responsible for 32 per cent of people in the US and western Europe holding unfavourable opinions of Islam.

Italy arrests terror suspects

Snip: ITALIAN police had arrested three suspected Algerian Islamic extremists on suspicion of aiding and abetting international terrorism, Ansa news agency reported today.

Ansa said police viewed the suspects as "potentially operative". It said they were seized early yesterday in the southern port city of Naples.

2,000 potential suicide bombers sought

Snip: Bangladesh authorities are searching for some 2,000 potential suicide bombers from three banned militant groups who were trained by the Taliban in Afghanistan.

They have assembled in the country to destabilize democracy," said a police officer. "All the country's law enforcement and intelligence agencies have been ordered to put concerted efforts into capturing the members of the suicide squad."

Shoot to kill becoming a rule regading suicide bombers

Snip: WASHINGTON, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- An international police chiefs group has followed U.S. Capitol Police with guidelines telling officers to shoot suspected suicide bombers in the head.

The International Association of Chiefs of Police issued its guidelines last month and the National Bomb Squad Commanders Advisory Board is telling its members that shooting a suspect in the head is the right course of action, The Washington Post reported Thursday.

The chiefs' organization says officers should look for "multiple anomalies," such as a heavy coat in warm weather or a backpack with wires sticking out and if the suspect doesn't cooperate, aim for the head so any bomb on the suspects torso wouldn't be hit.

British police have dealt with 250 suicide bomber scares since July 7

Snip: British police have dealt with 250 suicide bomb scares since the July 7 London bombings, police chief Sir Ian Blair said. On at least seven occasions officers have been on the brink of shooting to kill, the Metropolitan Police commissioner told Channel Four News Tuesday night.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "It said they were seized early yesterday in the southern port city of Naples and northern city of Brescia.

There was no immediate confirmation of the report.

Ansa said the Algerians had been in contact with a cell from Algeria's Salafist movement, which is thought to have links to al-Qaeda. Ansa did not say where they were being held.

Italy, a US ally with troops in Iraq, has received numerous Internet threats purported to be from Islamic militants, who have vowed to strike Italian interests."

Chinese immigrants face single count after broad allegations (failure to register as foreign agents)

Slap them on the hand and warn them not to do it again. That ought to do it, right?

The trouble with immigration

Snippets: As for illegal immigration, national borders are more porous than ever. In Canada, “gaps in Canada’s border security are so severe that an airport accepts international passengers without on-site immigration checks, a marine border unit has no boat, a computer glitch systematically hides information about terrorists, and officers at 62 border crossings are unable to link to a computer to screen incoming travelers” (National Post, April 11).

As one Chinese senior in Oakland puts it, a common point of view is mh hou sit dai, Cantonese for ‘Don’t miss this great opportunity’” (Sacramento Bee, Dec. 14, 1994). Matloff cited census data showing that, for example, 55 percent of the Chinese seniors who immigrated to California from 1980 to 1987 were on welfare by 1990.

Old chemical weapons found off west coast of Vancouver Island

Snip: The weapons were found in June but officials won't say exactly
where. They also aren't certain who owns them. Canada and the U.S.
dumped explosives, mustard gas and other chemical agents off both
coasts of North America following the Second World War. <<<<

Reminds me of the reports that I found on the weapons dumped by the world, after WW2, cannot recall the site url, there was to be another chapter on that report.....

I hope no one buys the precut in a bag vegetables and salads, the E-coli shows up in them several times a year.

Four Women Arrested Trying to Board Plane [Syria to Australia]
AP via TBO ^ | November 16, 2005

Posted on 11/16/2005 10:13:34 PM PST by ncountylee

SYDNEY, Australia (AP) -- Four Australian women were arrested while trying to board a plane in Syria after a dismantled handgun was allegedly found inside a toy the women were carrying, officials and media reports said Thursday.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said the four Australian women, who were not immediately identified, were with two Iraqi women and a child when they were detained at Damascus airport on Tuesday.

All six women were of Iraqi origin, the department said in a statement.

The Australian Broadcasting Corp. quoted an unidentified Syrian police source as saying the women were arrested after security officers found a dismantled handgun inside a toy the child was carrying.

The women were trying to board a Gulf Air flight bound for Australia via Bahrain.

"I understand that the pieces of weapon were in hand luggage, but there were bullets in the (aircraft's baggage) hold," Gulf Air spokesman David Baker said.

Syrian authorities were investigating whether the women might have been involved in a plot to hijack the plane, and police were questioning the women, the ABC reported.

I don't know what to think about this...

WMD's found in Iraq

1.77 metric tons of enriched uranium
1,500 gallons of chemical weapons agents
Chemical warheads containing cyclosarin (a nerve agent five times more deadly than sarin gas)

Over 1,000 radioactive materials in powdered form meant for dispersal over populated areas

This is only a partial list of the horrific weapons verified to have been recovered in Iraq to date. Yet, some Americans overwhelmingly believe U.S. and coalition forces found no weapons of mass destruction.

The question is... Why do they believe this lie?

One word: "disinformation."

It's a weapon that is used on all of us over and over every day of our lives. But what is the reason for this?

The deliberately suppressed list above is one reason. Here's another: Have you heard that Osama bin Laden is on kidney dialysis? I'll bet you have. Much of the Western media report bin Laden's presumed affliction as a matter of fact -- and most Americans believe it. But it's just not true.

Now, you may well be thinking: "Why would the news media want to make me believe that Osama bin Laden is a very sick and perhaps dying man?" Well, here's why...

The news media are - for the most part -- against the Iraq War. The image of an aged, 6-foot, 8-inch Arab limping from cave to cave, trailing a camel loaded down with dialysis equipment -- eluding George W. Bush and the most powerful military in the world -- appeals to them enormously.

And so the myth lives on -- for seven years now! -- long past the normal life expectancy of patients hooked up to dialysis in the best hospitals, let alone the freezing, rugged mountains of the Afghan-Pakistani border.

There is a name for this phenomenon -- disinformation.

The term refers to the deliberate dissemination of false information (and the intentional omission of true information) for the purpose of confusing rivals or influencing public opinion.

Indeed, the false conclusion that "Bush lied, there were no WMDs in Iraq," is the main supporting claim of the anti-war Left. Without it, the movement collapses.

Millions upon millions of Americans unknowingly accept blatant falsehoods as facts due to the power and prevalence of disinformation. Discuss this topic at BentonCountyIssues.com
