Lott was hung out to dry because he didn't have any friends in the Senate to back him up, and Lott won't find to many Republican friends by joining the Dems and attacking Rove.

Which reminds me .... gotta email my Senator and make sure the Republicans know that they will pay a price if they go soft on Alito (that's why I'm pinging you, OhioWfan, you had that original thread).

I read his Casey opinion today and was very impressed. I am sure that at least 95, if not 99%, percent of married men would like to know if their wife was having an abortion (and yes, the law had exceptions, etc.).

He will be a great addition to the Court.

Fred Thompson and Trent Lott have both rolled over and played dead in front of the MSM and Democrats. Neither have the intestinal fortitude to be an effective leader and both are professional politicians with plenty of skeletons in the closet. Lawrenceburg is not too far from here and I have heard enough to make me shudder when someone mentions Thompson; his ties to the criminals here are enough for me to be skeptical. Lott is just a weasel. Just a weasel. A gutless knee crawling weasel.
