Flannel Mouth rears his ugly head again. I would have thought after that birthday party boo-boo he would have learned about opening his mouth before connecting his brain.

I just watched it, and what Lott said was he didn't know if it was a good idea to have a political adviser be a policy adviser. In fact, he said, "I'm not saying he should leave the White House....", or something close to that.

P.S., I just heard Lorr again on little Chrissy Matthews' show, and Chrissy was really trying to back Trent into a corner about Rove staying on in the WH, and Lott in general, was being very evasive and general in his answers, and not once did he come outright and say Rove should go. He said that perhaps the WH should consider whether they wanted a political advisor to also serve in the role of policy advisor, considering what has occurred w/the Special Prosecutor going after, although not charging, Rove. Get the transcript of Lott's conversation w/Chrissy and read it carefully. It's not quite as it is being made out to be on this thread.

Thanks for posting, I wasn't sure it was allowed from the WaPo.

That photo hasn't been seen around these parts in quite a while.

Lott tends to be among the more reasonable senators. I'm curious to know why he is joining the moonbat coalition and calling for Rove's head.

He's not. I just saw the interview, and Lott never said that Rove should go. He said most administrations usually bring in new people in a second term, and that it was unusual to have a political director also acting as a policy director, but that it was the White House's decision as to what to do, and he would not give anybody any advice on personnel changes.

This thread is a bit hysterical as to what Lott actually said.

"If Trent thinks he's going to get Frist's spot in 2006 - he's in la la land."

What is your reason that the Republican Senators would not elect Lott as their majority (or minority) leader, in 2006?

They did, before. And he has served some time in political banishment, of sorts, for the error of his ways (the comment about Sen. Strom Thurmond, if I recall correctly).

Trent needs to be careful or he will lose a lot more than his home!

He serves in the Senate where an inordinate number are Jews skilled in circumcision. He should leave nothing dangling around.

I watched this and Trent Lott said that a political advisor possibly should not be involved in any but political decisions but adamantly disagreed with Chrissie when he tried to make his say that Rove should leave. I wish Drudge would correct this. . . does he even verify what he reports by listening to the report itself? Certainly seems that he did not do that in this case.

"It cost Lott his leadership post."

No, Lott cost Lott his leadership post.

This is why the Senate is in such disarray. Lott and Frist are marshallows.

Lott shouldn't even be on his heels right now. He should be leaning forward taking it to Dims for their phony play this afternoon. How can Harry Reid lean so forward doing something dumb while Republicans seem to lean backwards while in the right? This is the kind of stuff I complained about earlier on another post.

Well, I don't necessarily blame him for being bitter about being booted as Senate Majority Leader but, until I read some of the posts on this thread, I had forgotten about him agreeing to share power with the Dems. That was a major boo-boo, IMO, and he deserved to be booted.

But, being the cause of your own loss of position is no reason to give aid and comfort to the leftists. Trent may be mad, but he needs to dance with the ones what brung him and that's the 'Pubbies.

It's obvious Lott blames Rove for his fall from power instead of his own lack of spine and big mouth. He'll throw in with the dims over this.

Because there are better candidates.

After all the smarmy stuff Lott has done in the last year, I wouldn't trust him. He's to ready and willing to bow to the demands of the democrats. That is not what we need in the Senate - we need someone who is not afraid of the democrats and who's not afraid to show leadership.

Being a nice guy will not cut it anymore. The democrats are out for blood - and they will take anybody's blood they can get.

Right you are. Sometimes payback is a bitch. Rove is the one who told Bush to publickly blast Lott for his remarks at the birthday party. Which was hardball politics. Now its Lotts turn to play hardball politics. Its just the way this s--t goes. I would think that the party would stay together. But what the hell.

....gave him no support.

That does happen when you sell people out time and time again as Lott has a tendancy to do.

Lott caused most if not all of Lott's problems. If he hadn't been so willing to "share power" then likely they would have stood behind him. But since he was so eager to give up their power they figured that he should have no problem giving up his own.
