[history]
I noticed the response to a thread yesterday about sending cards/letters to wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Army Hospital. Many FReepers were interested in doing this, so I called and got an address : [also phone: (202) 782-2071]
American Red Cross at Walter Reed Army Medical Center
OIF/OEF Soldiers
6900 Georgia Av., NW
Washington, D.C. 20307

Update from thread:
A special letter might be sent to the soldier discussed on Fox & Friends this morning.
I did not get his name but he just got to Walter Reed last week and received ONE letter from someone writing in a child's printing.
Among other things it told him to die.
The soldier has the card on the wall of his room. I know FReepers can counter this despicable action with some of our own letters.
I emailed Fox & Friends requesting his address. Will let you all know when I get the address.
Joshua Sparling
Walter Reed Army Medical Center
6900 Georgia Avenue N.W.
Washington, D.C. 20307-5001

...our local VA hospital and once asked what the patients... would like. I was told - blankets, preferably colored.Nothing like a blankee to make you feel good! There's a lot of truth in that!

This conduct is as despicable as the vermin outside of Walter Reed's front gate. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the same people were involved in both anti-military activities.
I'll put out the offer that anyone who would like me to personally deliver cards to the Mologne House (a beautiful transition house for Walter Reed patients/families) may FReepmail for my address.

mark for home.
I will make sure he gets some cards from kids that let him know the true feelings of the majority of Americans.

Yes, I'll set up another account. Anyone who is interested, send me a note to freeper@verizon.net and I'll send you the directions to send the card. It is done on the computer, but it is a real delivered card. You choose the card and can personalize it with your own words and with different fonts.

That's sick and horrible. Why would the soldier put that card on his wall?
Who sent that card? Damien? That kid needs a slap.

Why would the soldier put that card on his wall? You've got me. Let's hope it's soon covered by cards from well wishers all over the country.
