Did Oreilly pull a NY Slimes on "EL Rushbo"[HELP NEEDED]
10/29/05 | Vanity

On The Oreilly Factor last night, in Bill’s Talking Points Memo, he alluded to the left-wing and right-wing ideologues and what they are saying about the Lewis Libby indictment. He began with an example of the right-wing by playing a clip of Rush Limbaugh. The clip (If anyone is a member of Rush 24/7, could you link to Fridays radio show?) he played was of Rush railing about the mainstream media’s scandalous anticipatory coverage of the Leakgate investigation. In that clip, he was implying that the mainstream media are trying to damage the Bush administration and bring down an American president with their coverage of the Leakgate investigation. If I’m not mistaken, Rush made those comments before the announcement of the indictments of Lewis (Scooter) Libby. Therefore, other than speculation, nothing was really known about the details of the indictment. So, his comments from that clip was in the context of what the motivation of the MSM was for the hideous, wall to wall speculations and innuendos and not what the left-wing and right-wing ideologues are saying about the Lewis Libby indictment.

How do I know, you ask?

Rush went live to C-SPAN's audio when the announcement of Leakgate by the special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald began and it ran to the end of his talk show without interruption. So nothing Rush said pertained to anything about the indictment of Libby. Only the coverage leading up to it was ever discussed. If you listen and watch The Oreilly Factor; that is not the impression you are left with. By taking Rush’s comments out of context, it makes him sound like he was concocting some conspiracy theory about why Libby was indicted, and at the same time painting all right-wingers as tinfoil hatters. Rush never spoke of the actual indictment.

As for the left-wing ideologues and what they are saying about the Lewis Libby indictment. He showed on the screen a couple of mildly provocative blog post headlines. Go figure!

I need help with audio or video clips if anyone has access to either Rush Limbaugh or the Talking Points Memo from last nights Oreilly Factor.

Rush had no time to say anything, as the Fitzmass press
conference and Q&A session ran right past the end of his
show's timeslot. He might have got one snort in just
before he went off air.

Bill O is a populist, and a pompous populist at that.
He is a waste of valuable air time, on both radio and
TV, perhaps more especially on TV, since that show is
often a re-hash of his underinformed opinion on radio.

Ugh, I knew I should've saved it. Actually, OReilly didn't specifically say it was in response to the indictments. He said it was how they were reacting to the whole thing. After he played Rush, who sounded great, he played 2 loons from the left who sounded crazy. Afterwards he generally said the same thing about the whole fiasco as Rush did. Afterwards I thought about it and realized he just wanted to play a clip of Rush dissing the NYT and lib media. That was my take anyway.

His talking points memo was more interesting to me. Not only did he say that Plame was covert, but also said that Bush said in his SOTU speech that Iraq attempted to get uranium from Niger, not Africa. It was a mess and I wrote to tell him so. If I find a copy of his talking points I'll let ya know.

Rush has been making those comments for a while.

I also thought O'R was over the top in his disparagement of Rush. He has a long standing dislike of Rush and the envy is obvious. Chalk it up to that and worry not. O'R's days are running and he will likely be gone in a couple years.

His ego, (the size of Long Island) can't handle his third place standing.

Yes, O'R missed the facts by 180* all the way. He was following Wilson's post indictment rant without fact checking.

O'Reilly did paint Rush as a right-wing goofball and spoke of left-wing goofballs to balance it.

The problem is that I do think Rush is right that the MSM & Democrats want to bring down the Bush Administration. That's not goofball stuff. That's reality.

O'Reilly's just jealous that Rush's audience is far more than Bill O's radio & tv audience combined.

If watch (or listen to) O'Reilly, you get what you deserve. It's like sleeping with dogs - you will probably get infested with fleas.

If you think his TV show is bad, try listening to his radio show. Facts are few and far between. And the whhhiiining....

BOR is getting increasingly hard to tolerate.

O'Reilly implied that Rush and the nutty leftists over at Air America are two sides of the same "extremist" coin, and that only he is "fair and balanced."

O'Reilly probably kisses his image in the mirror in the morning. He does make good points from time to time, but his friggin' ego overshadows his own opinions.

O'Reilly has serious mental issues. He is one paranoid insecure person. He will not be around much longer. He can not handle the pressure anymore.

O'Reilly is envious of Rush and bashes him occasionally.

Savage is envious of Rush and savages him regularly.

And Rush just sits atop the mountain not discussing or giving a crap about either of these jokers.

While I like O'R's stance against the ACLU, he is a phony, and will "fib" to try to "prove" that he is nonpartisan and "fair."

For some reason OR does not like Rush. OR seems to think thank Rush is a no talent ideology. Go figure.

Bill O'Reilly is just like John McCain. He'll say whatever he thinks he needs to say at any given moment to advance HIS (real) agenda.

I don't trust either of them.

That's why Rush's ratings on a slow day are only about 20X what O'Really gets for TV and radio combined. KDKA (oldest AM station in the country) in Pittsburgh lost Rush to an FM station nobody ever heard of that now carries a full lineup of Beck, Hannity, Rush, Savage, etc. with Quinn & Rose in the a.m. drive time. KDKA picked up O'Really to have something to put opposite Rush and they have been completely wiped off the map. Next they will be giving away ad spots if they aren't already!
