Actor George Takei who played Mr. Sulu on the original 'Star Trek' television series, has admitted to the press for the first time that he is gay. Takei told the Associated Press that his role as Martin Dysart in the play 'Equus' helped pave the way for him to come out.
The current social and political climate also motivated Takei's disclosure, he said.
