Alito It Is (Or So It Seems)
ConfirmThem.com ^ | 10/28/2005 | Erick

Multiple sources are telling RedState that Samuel A. Alito, Jr. of the Third Circuit Court of Appeals will be named by the President at the next associate justice of the United States Supreme Court as early as Monday.

“The situation is still in flux,” says one source, “but not very much.” Says another, “The White House Counsel’s Office is not doing too good at keeping this a secret.”

Still another source says, “Luttig and Alito were the fall backs to Miers. They have both been vetted. Alito seems more palatable. There is no need to drag this out, he’s been vetted a million times.”

And yet another source tells me that he is convinced Alito is the nominee barring some last minute unforeseen issue. All signs are pointing to Judge Alito right now. Things could change, but as the weekend draws closer it seems more and more likely that Judge Alito will be the nominee and conservatives will have a fight on their hands in the Senate — a very winnable fight.

If this is true, then all the babies will be pacified.

I won't be happy unless Chuck Schumer screams like a girl.

How would you know? ;-)

As I posted on another thread, Alito got unanimous consent from the Judiciary Committee in 1990, with names like Byrd, Reid, Kennedy, Biden, Kerry, Harkin, Lautenberg, Leiberman, Dodd, and Leahy all signing off on him.

There's almost no chance of a filibuster, and they have almost no ground to stand on to fight his credentials since he's already been vetted and they gave him an overwhelming stamp of approval.

Here's what Gun Owners of America has to say about Alito:

"There are other conservative judges who are currently on the federal bench who also have a high regard for the U.S. Constitution. Judge Samuel Alito, Jr., in the Third Circuit, has argued that Congress has no right to regulate the private possession of machine guns. "

I can certainly get behind Alito, on this issue alone! Everything I have heard or read about him tells me he is very conservative, and very Pro 2A. IMHO--He's the man for the job.

So there were no second choices that wanted the job, even though these two gentlemen have been fully vetted? This tells me more things about this WH that really are making me damn sick!

His ideological likeness to United States Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonin Scalia has earned him the nickname "Scalito."

Yes, but can he bowl?

About five years ago I said the same about Barney Frank.

the white house tried to leak that, but when they were contacted, the other women mentioned denied that and were upset that they put out that rumor.

I wonder if this was the plan all along, considering that Miers was in on the decision-making process all along...

I'd actually like to see a supposed filibuster. I want to see the Nuclear Option and then the group of 14 fall apart. THat would bring this party together and I can't wait to see this man take his seat on the Supreme Court by Christmas, not the January they had been talking about

What happens if all the Dems say no, all the 7 RINOs say no, and no amount of persuasion will change their minds?

Answer: the nominee is rejected.

Well, in all fairness to the WH, they did say they were looking for a woman. Which is still strange, because Alito and Luttig were just academic choices, then.

I think that Alito would be a good choice. No trusting required!

lets hope our quisling senators grow a pair

Well, now that enough conservatives have put down the kool aid and decided to hold the GOP accountable, they probably will. No thanks to the quisling bots who would have had us accept Miers.

McCain and the RINOs want the White House in 2008. They're not going to vote against the President after everything with Miers.

No indictiments for felonies, plus Scalio? DU will need a suicide watch. This could be shadenreude at it's finest ever.

Don't forget the reports that the economy is growing at 3.8% and the Iraqi constitution was passed overwhelmingly.
