UNION THUGS attack Schwarzenegger supporter at Villarogosa rally in Los Angeles - VIDEO!!!
mediadrool.com ^ | October 27, 2005 | Heather Peters, Jeffers Dodge, Genevieve Paters

Here is aan e-mail that I just received:

Genvieve Peters (no relation), who I recruited for the LA bus tour team, is certifiably insane and brings new meaning to the phrase "earned media". Forget about the baloney delivery stunt, this one clearly takes the cake.

When David Pegos tried to stage a counter protest today at the Latino union rally with Nunez and Villaraigosa in Downtown LA I put him in touch with Genvieve. She showed up in her red Arnold t-shirt with her signs ALL ALONE. Instead of going home (which I would have told her to do if the lunatic had called me), she quietly made her way into the middle of the crowd and positioned herself in front of the podium.

When Villarogosa finished speaking, she spun around and waived her "YES on 74-77" signs for the cameras. The media converged on her. The union thugs converged on her.

As the media asked her why she was there, the thugs started hitting her over the head with their "no" signs, tearing up her signs and pouring water on her as she loudly proclaimed to the cameras that she was there because she used to be a teacher in an ESL class and she knows that the children of all these wonderful hardworking people deserve a better education and their unions are lying to them!!!

The media ate it up. She was interviewed by Channels 2 & 9 as well as by the Spanish media. The thugs kept complaining that she was stealing their news coverage. Luckily one very kind (and quite large) union member escorted her to her car - all the while flashing gang signs at his fellow union members warning them to back off. Thank God she's home safe and sound. I'm buying her dinner (right after I stop screaming at her for taking her life in her hands)!

Actually what she needs is to be arrested for assault.

This is a civil rights case. They are trying to deny her her right to speak.

The clip of footage should be perfect for an ad of exactly what the proposition - and its detractors - are about.

Received this message on freepmail and have replied to you.

I will repeat what I wrote on the private mail - The L.A. County Board is not appointed by politicians - they are elected by employees.

remind us what prop 77-74 is?

Prop. 75 is the one that has the union scum upset. It would require that the union get your permission before using your dues money for political purposes. As you are probably aware, there are a lot of jobs where you simply CANNOT work unless you pay union dues -- even if you disagree 100% with the union's political positions.

From what I hear, there are a LOT of union members who do NOT want their money going to Democrats, and the Democrats know this and are fighting desperately to stop Prop. 75 so they won't be suddenly and catastrophically defunded.

DO you have a link to a print source? I'd like to post a newspaper article on this at work.

I'd like to post a newspaper article on this at work.

I have not yet seen much posted about this in the "mainstream" legacy media.
Almost All of the coverage has been on the bogs -- and, of course, here on FR. :o)
A few of the BEST summaries of this incident are posted HERE:
www.californiaconservative.org

thepoliticalteen.net and

michellemalkin.com

SEVERAL of the blogs include a quote attributed to CBS 2:
A single Schwarzenegger supporter struggles to hold her ground in a rally against the governor’s special election initiatives. Opponents tried to hit her with their signs and some blocked news cameras as she argued her point. The crowd turns quickly, grabbing her signs and tearing them up. Even a woman wearing an orange security vest rips up the “Vote Yes” signs.” (CBS 2 News, October 28, 2005)
I have not yet been able to find a PRINT version of that original source. It seems to be a TRANSCRIPTION of the video from a televised report on L.A.'s KCAL 9/KCBS 2 (which are both owned by the same company) -- reposted here:

FOR THE RECORD, Genevieve says that the brave man who came to her assistance was NOT with the union.
She said that he was a COLLEGE STUDENT.
Apparently, his teacher brought their whole class -- to this anti-Schwarzenegger rally! -- but he was not so brainwashed as to allow a woman to be attacked while HE was able to do anything about it.
In any event, Genevieve says that NONE of the union people helped to protect her from the thugs -- in ANY way.

Welcome to mexifornia

What I saw in the video was mostly white citizens plus a few blacks and zero day laborers or otherwise illegals.

State confiscation of civil service pension funds that were NOT funded by taxpayer monies.

If these funds are for defined benefit pensions, the state can take them. If they are defined contribution pensions, it should be hands off.

Basically, regardless of how well or badly the pension funds were invested, the state is on the hook to pay pensions in a defined benefit plan. The state gets to keep the surplus or is responsible for the deficit.

In a defined benefit plan, the union does not get to have it both ways, that is get the defined benefit regardless of a shortfall, or receive the defined benefit plus the surplus in case of a windfall.

Schwarzenegger (& media) is using one segment of unions to give a bad name to all of them.

Reminds me of the old lawyer joke "you know 90% of the lawyers are giving the other 10% a bad reputation".

Fact is 90% of union activities are for funding democrats, stifling competion and innovation, and sometimes outright graft and corruption.

Which union?

I saw the teacher's union representative trashing Schwarzenneger the other day and saying, "When did teachers become the enemy?"

If it's the teachers' union, then she has her answer.
