There will only be world stability when the rogue muslim countries like Syria, Iran and Saudi Arabia are smoking ruins.

Switzerland has had over 500 years of "peace and stability" and their greatest achievement has been the cuckoo clock..........

The 20th century was a period of bloody struggles as aggressive totalitarian movements – Fascism, Nazism, Japanese Militarism and Communism – sought to terminate the democratic experiment.

It seems that whole world is blind to the natural and logically follow on to that list of killer movements...

Islam.

When will someone or some forum debate that?

Militant Islam is just the latest Face of War. For countless millenia, armies have swarmed across the desert sands of the "Middle East" from all directions spreading their cause or empire's borders. Subjugation, death and destruction have been the norm, not the exception. Egyptians, Syrians, Chaldeans, Medes, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Islam's First wave, Crusaders, Ottomans, British and Nazi. They are all the same. The way of life in that region is death. There will come a time of peace, but only when Jesus' foot touches the Mount of Olives again........

That's what has been on my mine lately. The massive, worldwide threat of Islam on one hand and the complete absense of leadership in the world to oppose it creates a leadership vacuum that is so large it can no longer be filled by mortals.

"Switzerland has had over 500 years of "peace and stability" and their greatest achievement has been the cuckoo clock.........."

Not true on so many levels. They have the better system of government, if you're comparing the Federation to the U.S.--their's is still a federal republic. And they invented a really cool knife, you might have seen `em. 8)

But it's a catchy quote anyway.

Careful you don't get on a plane with that. I'm still boiling mad about that. I used to carry that knife everywhere I flew, now I'm afraid to pack it because the !@#!@$ luggage handlers are such weasels they'll see it and steal it.

MOTHER!@#$@!$@!

I can't imagine how pissed I'd be if I'd lost mine. I bought it in Zurich in '86 after saving up for weeks to buy the biggest of the Swiss dogs. It's part of a belt pack kit that came with a mini-compass, ruler, mag-lite, extra toothpicks and tweezers, and a bunch of other stuff in the case, all about 3x4"xSwissChamp+1/2 in. wide

Accidentally left it in a hotel once. I spent more than a new one would have cost to drive back and get it. Sentimental fool, am I, I suppose. But I would hate to lose that wonderful little tool.

I bought a Leatherman thinking it'd give me some tools the SwissChamp didn't have...its lock lever rivet broke in two months.

So I'm thinking about getting a SwissTool to go with the knife. Victorinox makes impressive stuff. I might settle for a Gerber instead, but it'll be a tough decision.
