Be careful what you wish for" applies here in spades, folks. Watch the Democrats become Miers' new "best friends" and decry how she was treated by the extremists in the Republican party.

Senator Feinstein echoed Reid statement today as well:

"I call on the President to name a nominee in the mainstream of American jurisprudence, who can help bring this nation together and demonstrate a scrupulous knowledge of the law and a judicial temperament that enables support by both sides of the political aisle.

I would urge the President to take his time in naming a new nominee. Justice Sandra Day O’Connor has agreed to continue to serve and much more important is the quality of the nominee rather than the immediacy of the appointment.”

The ranking member of the Judicary Committee, Senator Leahey, has also added in his two cents:"

“I look forward to consulting with the President on his third nominee to succeed Sandra Day O’Connor on the Supreme Court, and I hope it is a decision he approaches with the necessary independence from partisan factions. All Americans appreciate Justice O’Connor’s willingness to continue her service long past when she had intended to retire from the Court.”

These statements all contains threads that the Democrats will use now with great effectiveness, thanks in large part to the heavy handed tactics of many on the Right.

"necessary independence from partisan factions"

"should not reward the bad behavior of his right wing base."

"take his time in naming a new nominee."

So give yourselves all a pat on the back, secure in the knowledge that you have given the Democrats a bat to beat over the head of the next nominee.

“In choosing a replacement for Ms. Miers, President Bush should not reward the bad behavior of his right wing base. He should reject the demands of a few extremists and choose a justice who will protect the constitutional rights of all Americans.”

Reed is telegraphing the fear of the Left: that Bush will now nominate a solid, proven conservative, and the greatly touted and cherished "division in the GOP" will suddenly evaporate.

So give yourselves all a pat on the back, secure in the knowledge that by electing George Bush, we have given the Democrats a bat to beat over the head of the next nominee. Since the Democrats liked John McCain better, we should have elected him, right?

Harry Reid Now Bush's Top Advisor

George Bush should stop sleeping with the enemy. The RATs are at war with our Constitution and at war with Republicans. Why doesn't George Bush recognize this?

Marxist RAT Harry Reid suggests to Bush he nominate Harriet Miers, and Bush decides to throw Harry Reid a bone and does that. WTF???????????? Why in God's name does Bush sleep witht he enemy?

"I was impressed with her record of achievement as the managing partner of a major Texas law firm and the first woman president of the Texas Bar Association. In those roles she was a strong supporter of law firm diversity policies and a leader in promoting legal services for the poor. But these credentials are not good enough for the right wing: they want a nominee with a proven record of supporting their skewed goals."
Of Course Harry loved her - she's a liberal.

I had recommended that the President consider nominating Ms. Miers because I was impressed with her record of achievement

And yet the bots couldn't chug the kool aid fast enough.

Right, because otherwise they were going to be so nice and congenial. LOL. You think like a Spanish voter.

Hi All-

In salesmanship there are always sellers willing to drop their prices without even trying to compare on a features and functionality basis. This technique is called "selling scared" because the salesperson is afraid they are going to lose to someone else.

Same exact situation here. President Bush needs to understand that he won and was returned to office with over a MILLION votes more than his competitor. He needs to act on behalf of these loyal constituents and nominate a true conservative who won't legislate from the bench.

When I read this, I got a new image of Harry "Squint" Reid in my head -- that of the old-fashioned villain -- dressed head-to-toe in black, twirling his handlebar moustache, waiting for the train to run over the fair maiden tied to the railroad tracks!!

Not quite. Ms Meirs was an unexpected windfall for the Rat Party. They were ecstatic, but Schmuck Chumer doesn't sound too happy today. The Libs are going to beat up whoever gets nominated, we might as well get someone we like.

For conservatives, the Meirs nomination was the equivalent of being told all year that you are getting a pony for Christmas and instead just getting the saddle.

I got in to a fistfight with a democrat today. I was so outclassed. He hurt my hands by throwing his face into my fists. And to add insult to injury, he taunted me by stateing the similarities of my butt and his face.

who cares. you talk as if Miers was some superstar with a 90% approval rating amongst the american public - like Oprah Winfrey. so the conservatives took her down, the sheeple don't care, most of them don't even know who she is.

Aye, fight and you may die, run, and you'll live... at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willin' to trade ALL the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take away our lives, but they'll never take... OUR FREEDOM!

I just love it when the scumbags act not only like they're in charge, but that their warnings and threats are because they have the best interests of Republicans at heart.
