Rush on Miers: ‘Pity the Poor Liberals’

Rush Limbaugh began his nationally syndicated radio program Thursday with an interesting spin on the news of Harriet Miers withdrawal from Supreme Court consideration.
Limbaugh turned his attention not to Miers, President Bush or his own largely conservative radio audience, but rather, to liberal politicians in Washington D.C.
"Pity the poor liberals, Limbaugh said. "They all bought new suits and ties and got ready for the cameras today thinking that CIA Leak indictments were coming down and they would get to talk about it on TV. Instead WHAMO! Harriet Miers withdraws her nomination and the liberals are having a conniption.
~snip~"Liberals have to learn that there is no extreme right wing, he said. "There is a conservative movement and these are the people who are the majority in America, and they elected President Bush. Limbaugh said people such as Senators Ted Kennedy, Patrick Leahy, Diane Feinstein and Reps. Barbara Boxer and Nancy Pelosi must be having fits over this news.
"The conservative movement today showed its size, Limbaugh said. "This is an illustration of what the Left faces and they know it. They are scared to death and already talking about filibusters again.

"America is majority conservative." Maybe so. But the US Senate isn't.

Are the RINO's and red state Dems ready for what is coming? A line has been drawn. You cannot make a promise and than break it. Americans agree that we should have Justices like Scalia and Thomas. It was promised during your campaigns. If you stand in the way of that promise we'll be on your tails. Look at the events of the last four weeks. Looks at DeWine's son losing in Ohio. Look at Daschle.

It's hard to believe those figures when majority of adults (thankfully not everyone votes) aren't even republican. Most americans aren't liberal, but sadly they aren't conservative at least by our standards.

The libs are VERY peeved about this. Like foxes, with a taste of mere feathers. Something delectable got away.
It wasn't her politics or religion they liked, but the prospect of grilling the President's attorney. And of course they enjoyed the spectacle of conservatives at odds with one another, and that's over.
Yes, Dim hopes are dimmer today! :)

They will have to dig out their hidden gonads which must have crawled up into their belly's.

"He describes the libs like children all the time, which is what they are, and it is so funny to me. This man agrees with you and Rush, me also.

If Bush had the courage to nominate a Janice Rogers Brown, I think he would have done it the first time. Now that "we've" shown him the error of his ways, perhaps he'll see he has no real choice but to do so.
Or... he could take the petty and vindictive route, nominate a known "moderate" judge, and dare us to try to do something about it using only arguments against their philosophy and not their qualifications.
Let's see.

He does have it RIGHT.
Conservatives have finally put their foot down - and Bush backed off. He OWES his base a hard core conservative Supreme Court Justice and that excludes someone like Miers.

Bush can challenge the Gang of 14 power - which he should with a turly conservative nominee in the mold of Scalia or Thomas.
If Bush (and conservatives) win, it will effectively be the castration of the Gang of 14.

Did y'all hear that one male caller today who kept saying that Rush "took Meiers down" - I wanted to call into Rush's show and tell that guy off - my goodness, what a BeeEye - itch that man was! Did that man Passive-Aggressive much? And he used all the Correct Praise Talking Points too. Rush shouldn't have even humored that kitty-cat with his claws out.
I agree with Rush - Time for GWB to pull together his cajones and start picking fights. The thing Liberals hate the most is when they are forced to fight on their own...they DEPEND on being able to sidle up and put one arm around the shoulder while sticking a knife between the ribs, all the while telling you what you want to hear. Forcing them to stand on the other side of the line and face you while fighting will send their crack-up into even further amusing depths...they don't know what to do with themselves in that situation!!!
Fight, conservatives, fight!

All that really shows though is that we've succeeded in making "liberal" a dirty word.
A lot of people who consider themselves mainstream of moderately conservative are what would have been called liberal in any historical perspective.

Shamelessly stealing from Dylan:
I pity the poor liberal
Who wishes he would've stayed home,
Who uses all his power to do evil
But in the end is always left so alone.
That man whom with his fingers cheats
And who lies with ev'ry breath,
Who passionately hates his life
And likewise, fears his death.
I pity the poor liberal
Whose strength is spent in vain,
Whose heaven is like Ironsides,
Whose tears are like rain,
Who eats but is not satisfied,
Who hears but does not see,
Who falls in love with wealth itself
And turns his back on me.
I pity the poor liberal
Who tramples through the mud,
Who fills his mouth with laughing
And who builds his town with blood,
Whose visions in the final end
Must shatter like the glass.
I pity the poor liberal
When his gladness comes to pass.

I don't think so. He's got to be dizzy from all the spinning he's been doing lately. His act is getting tired, at least to me it is.

Don't like the fact that Conservatives refused to tow the McGoo...err McCain Line and capitulate to the Dummycrat party line aye.
If you want to act lime a Dummycrat, maybe it's time to be a dummycrat and leave the Republicans to the majority!

"The November 2004 Battleground Poll shows that sixty percent of Americans consider themselves either "very conservative" or "somewhat conservative," while only thirty-three percent consider themselves "very liberal" or "somewhat liberal."

Don't forget that the Demmycrats were successful in 2004. They exceeded all their estimates for turn out that they calculated was necessary to win the election. The fact that the McGoo...err McCain bots refuse to acknowledge is that is was Cultural Conservatives that turned out in record numbers to put Bush over the top.
I actually heard a North Eastern Country Club talking head on Fox news this morning trying to claim that Bush needs to play to the moderates and that it was his appeal to "Moderates" in 2004 that put him over the top!
PLEASE!!!!

I want to believe he will nominate a strong Conservative, but I do not think the gang of 14 will allow him to do so.
Then I think it's time we organize a PAC to target the 7 Rinos from the gang of 14 and work tirelessly to make sure they have primary challengers from now until they are taken out of the Senate....We also need to include the other RINOs that didn't get involved in that fiasco!
It's time to instill some Party Discipline. I don't want to restrict a RINOs ability to voice their concerns, but when the Republican Caucus throws it's support behind a person or position...the RINOs should fall in line or be eliminated.
No more Treachery from the RINOs

The word Liberal has not always been an epithet. It wasn't until McGoo...err....McCain....err...McGovern decided to call himself that and the Leftist Nutjobs picked it up that it became a negative descriptor.
The new descriptor for the Commie Libs is "Progressive. I predict that within 5 to 10 years this word will be as negatively viewed as Liberal.
and I believe the word "Moderate" is becoming synonymous with the word "Liberal". at least in my mind.
