Duquesne, no bastion of conservatism there.

He should obviously be sent to a re-education camp to be put on the path of "liberal" righteousness. /SAR.

Well, it is a private university and does have the right to determine what is and is not acceptable behavior for its students, and who its students are. Of course, there are issues of contract law, whether or not this sort of thing was clearly made punishable in the express and implied contracts between the student and the university: having paid his fees, the student has performed. Has he breached the agreement? Would the university be in breach if it expelled him? It would be fun to take that case (if someone were paying my usual exhorbinant hourly rates).

This should be disquiety to Catholics who hoped the new Pope might do something about the homosexuals in the priesthood. Interestingly, even 35 years ago in a Catholic university setting, there were attempts to discipline students for being anti-homosexual after having passes made at them.

Why can't the Church simply live by the doctrine it preaches?

Diversity mantra pushes forward - message to all those who think this doesnt affect you - Businesses are now pushing the diversity mantra and this basically means if you are white (and esp male) and Christian you are going to be punished for your values. For those that dont think boycotting companies like this is a reason for change then you obviously support limited speech and our rights taken away from us.

DIVERSITY is the new evil.

He ought to submit a ten page essay from a lawyer on why viewpoint discrimination is illegal.

Freedom of speech is under attack in our country and too
many institutions are buckling under to intimidation from
the brownshirted "gay activists." Of course a university is
almost like headquarters for them but private companies are
buckling under to "diversity" too. Click your bootheels
and salute. And the legacy of Ernst Rohm (GAY HITLER BROWNSHIRT LEADER) lives on.

Quoting from the article:

"After his comments appeared online, some students complained to the school. After a hearing, the office of judicial affairs found Miner guilty of violating the University Code which prohibits harassment or discrimination based on, among other groups, sexual orientation."

***

Uh...no. This was expressing a viewpoint in an online forum not related to the university. And as far as I can tell, there was no effort on the part of Mr. Miner to harrass or discriminate.

Another thing...Duquesne University is a Catholic school...why would it in any way attempt to make some alliance with homosexuals since such behavior is prohibited under Catholic teaching?

It does not matter if Duq is Catholic, or Baptist, or even Presbyterian in its' religious heritage. What does matter is this young man has made them look really like the facists they are with this p.c. crap they are forcing down everyone's throat! If he does not think that homosexuals are to be welcomed anywhere they want to go, so be it. That is his choice and he has to live with the consequences of it. To go outside the university and post his thoughts is his right, and the university has absolutely no right to censure him. Where is the damned ACLU when you need those weirdos? I would tell the judicial board where they could stick a ten page report from me that they wuld never see!!

Duquesne is not a Jesuit school, it was founded by the Congregation of the Holy Ghost (boo!).

I would like someone in the athletic department to write a ten page essay explaining why our basketball team has had only one winning season in the past two decades...losers...

Homosexual Agenda Ping.

What is it with these supposedly "Catholic" universities? Must be the Lavender Mafia and other apostates in charge. Parents, watch very carefully where you send your college age kids.

Where's the first amendment? And the crap about "it's a private university" is crap. If they recieve a penny of gov money (aka as "our" money) they have no right to threaten, punish or expel a student for expressing his POV. Pretty amazing when every kind of vile pornography is supposedly protected under the first amendment, but an expression such as the student's - that homosexual behavior is disgusting - is not.

It is indeed a world gone mad.

Freepmail me if you want on/off this unfortunately very busy ping list.

Freedom of Speech has no meaning to American educators anymore. Political correctness, mental 'disposition' and the like are all that is important.

Our educators are right out of Stalin's 1950's Russian school system - they just don't know it.

It all boils down to the question of whether what he did meets the University's definition of "harrassment". Of course, these days, anyone who merely reads, hears, or hears about anything that merely upsets them is considered harrassment, so who knows.

Referring to homosexuals as subhuman isn't the best way to express yourself. Besides the obvious fact that homosexuals are human, it's far better to write about what science says on the subject and to mention the growing number of ex-homosexuals.

For instance, science is quite hostile to the born-that-way theory. In other words, there is no such thing as a gay gene. For an excellent overview of what science says, checkout:

Born or Bred? Science Does Not Support the Claim that Homosexuality is Genetic.
Or read the following:

I think Miner (the student) would have received less attention had he wrote about the above instead of referring to homosexuals as subhuman.

GSA's are just part of GLSEN.

The GSA's are intentional recruiting arms of the homosexual lobby. It is their EXPLICIT intent and design to induce as many MINORS AS POSSIBLE to engage in a homosexual act and then be labled homosexual.

In essence it is public school sanction sexual molestation.

And yet the propaganda media is defeningly silent.
