I agree.
A total lack of decorum.

E.D. Hill just said that a list of people he was considering asked to be removed because they didn't want to go through the hearings process. Can you blame them?

Give us the list ... so that we can determine for ourselves whether or not this is true.

It's the PRO-Miers people who are mindlessly interested only in the 'R' team scoring points against the 'D' team, without regard to ideology.

I would disagree with that assessment. I would guess by pro-Miers you mean anti-anti-Miers. Most of those opposed to the anti-Miers onslaught were of the wait and see variety. As for the ideology angle, it's always nice to think you are more "pure" than someone else, but in this case, I think both sides want originalists on the SCOTUS, they just had a disagreement on whether Miers was one. Of course, it's a moot point now.

Which Dems came out against Miers stronger than the wacko GOP?

I am with you. I see some Freepers as the twins of DUers. This whole thing gives me a stomach ache.

You all didn't just "voice your opinions" and wait to see what happened; you completely annihiliated that woman.

By voicing our opinions and exposing her record. It's not like we have any special powers beyond that. We're just "fringers", you know. ;-)

You're dreaming.

I was called a three-toed tree sloth a few weeks back by a Miers supporter.

"The crowing might be because the 'Anti-Miers' crowd has spent three weeks being told to shut up, get real, and be good little conservative doormats for Bush..."

At the end of the day you put forth your arguments, and you won. Nice job. At no time in the past three weeks have any of the anti Miers crowd shut up.

We weren't the majority during the government shutdown. We are now. MOST of the people in this country, at their core, the way they live and think, are Conservative. We just need to keep educating them that they already are US, so come on in, the water's fine.

Wrong again. If Miers had distinguished herself as a Constutional originalist scholar or jurist after graduation, it would not have mattered a bit what schools she attended. We all would have been on her side. You know that.

I don't believe that. No for one minute. If it is true, then folks with your point of view need to prove it. Problem is, you'll never get the chance, because from here on out, only elites will be considered for the court.

Okay, a minority of conservative voters and pundits have gotten their way before the woman even spoke. They damn well better be right, and if Bush nominates a Luddig/Owens type, the Senate Republican majority better grow a set jiffy quick and confirm them at all costs. Because if the second person is defeated, the third will be a o'conner at best, and a suiter at worst.

Much as I wish people had been adults and waited for the hearings, I'm relieved that the bickering is over now. I hope all the anti-Miers conservatives will put as much energy into attacking the ridiculous plame-gate story and fighting to restore DeLay as Majority Leader. Both of these issues are at least of equal importance. Disagreeing within a party is fine and healthy, but all the vicious personal attacks coming from most of the anti-Miers crowd directed at other conservatives who weren't in the mood to lynch someone is not okay. There is no upside to that for Conservatives. I just hope Bush puts up a Luddig/Owens type Judge, and if they fail in the Senate, the blame rests with the rabid Anti-Miers crowd as much as the Senators themselves.

We (the far right wing) DO have a say in this process. The fact that Feinstein is troubled by that is just gravy.

Well said.. I just to get a peak into the mind of left wing politicians and what they really think of Conservatives. It's illuminating..

Speaking of insulting tone...

Oh, right, like I'm going to feel bad when I lay you out after you toss a few out at me and everyone who opposed Miers. Typical moonbot whining. Go cry to your mommy and tell her you were beat up by an elitist, willya, junior, gowan, you bother me.

I have never witnessed such rottenness here..........no matter what the topic was. We have lost good freepers because they couldn't take it any more. It was out of hand.

I've been around here for a while.

This forum has had spirited fights over other issues.

I've read your type of post after those debates EVERY time.

This forum is still here, still going strong, still a vibrant and robust place to come and discuss conservative ideas and politics.

Politics ain't beanbag or tiddly-winks and some of us are REALLY invested in the concept of changing the course of the Supreme Court. Thus, our sometimes emotional reactions to the Miers pick.

It wasn't personal, it wasn't about religion, and it wasn't "elitist" or "sexist". It was about sensing that we were watching an historic opportunity to achieve a long wished-for dream go by the boards because of...well, whatever it was that drove the President to pick Miers.

It was about watching a deep bench of proven originalist talent get passed over in favor of a pick that was deliberately inscrutable on jurisprudential issues.

As for which side of this debate was "nastiest", I suppose that's in the eye of the beholder. But there were some here that were throwing the likes of Ronald Reagan under the bus in order to try to make the case for Miers.

Enough said.

Hey Howlin,

How'd your "moderate conservatives" do in winning elections before Ronald Reagan and the modern conservative Republican movement came along? How'd they do in running "moderate Republican" George H.W. Bush against Bill Clinton? Grow up and face reality.

By the way, how do you feel today about my earlier 95% prediction about the certainty of a Miers withdrawal? You blasted me then as having "no common sense" and lacking basic facility with words.

In sum, do you like your crow fried or grilled?
