Slade Gorton claims to already know the results of the Senate Intelligence Committee proceedings. He says they will agree with him - that Able Danger was historically insignificant. That it "didn't have anything to do with 9/11" at all! Let's hope Mr. Gorton is in for a rude awakening. If not, it begs the question, how does he know so much about classified proceedings in the Senate that the American public has not been allowed to hear for ourselves?
From Lou Dobbs last night:
DOBBS: Congressman Curt Weldon claims a secret Pentagon project known as Able Danger identified Mohammed Atta as a member of a New York-based al Qaeda cell a year before the September 11th terrorist attacks. There was no mention of Able Danger in the commission's report on 9/11. I'm joined now by former Senator Slade Gorton, a member of the 9/11 Commission. Good to have you here, but, in fact was Able Danger omitted from your initial 9/11 Commission report with a purpose?
SLADE GORTON, FORMER 9/11 COMMISSIONER: No, Able Danger was omitted -- omitted from our report because it didn't have anything to do with 9/11. We learned about Able Danger from Colonel Shaffer, who briefed four of our staffers on it in Kabul, Afghanistan eight or nine months before our report came out. We immediately followed up on it, and we got all of the Able Danger materials from the Department of Defense, and they had nothing to do with Mohammed Atta or with any of the other conspirators. So Able Danger was -- got very interesting. It didn't identify Mohammed Atta a year beforehand. Unfortunately, no one identified Mohammed Atta beforehand. Able Danger was simply irrelevant to our report, and still is.

Sure Slade, you blinking buffoon.
Aren't half the reforms the commission demands are not 9/11 related.
Maybe Slate should read this:

Slade Gorton was a disappointment on the 9/11 Commission, and, IMO, is the equal of Jim Jeffords. He showed little, or no interest, in pursuing the truth...did not ask intelligent questions, and denied the obvious bias of the Committee. He defended Jamie Gorelick from well-deserved and truthful criticisms, and looked ridiculous fawning over her!
And did he also know the results of the 9/11 Commission before they had the hearings?};-)
"Slade Gorton was a disappointment on the 9/11 Commission,.." And most of the Republicans in the State of WA. A lot of us didn't mark anything in the US Senator box. We had a choice of Slade and Maria Cantwell.
In the previous election (1998?) Cantwell won the undecided cliffhanger when King County, as usual, finally reported in with just enough votes to dump Slade. Happens all the time. Someday though it will cost us a real Republican instead of just another Rino.
In another year, politics will have everyone convinced that ALL were to blame for 9/11 less the "extreme" religion of peace fanatics.
"And did he also know the results of the 9/11 Commission before they had the hearings?};-)"
It is SOP to meet with board and commission members prior to any meetings of significance in order to ensure the outcome, you know. So, I'd say yes.
Slade Gordon is a wimp..rhino and every other bad thing I can think of.
I will not vote for him..let's have another demo instead. At least we will know where we stand with another lib.
Who in their right mind would trust the word of a politician versus the word of these fine officers? Only the MSM.
When the new Able Danger news broke 2 months ago or whenever it was, Slade came on the Michael Medved show to denounce it vehemently and defend the 9/11 commission. He is definitely part of the coverup. There was no sympathy for Slade after letting Clinton off the hook in the impeachment, otherwise maybe the King County vote fraud would have been exposed two years earlier. I'm sure Cantwell's win was crooked, but Slade deserved to lose.
And I'm the Easter Bunny.
There is a point where excuses and on-the-spot made up dodges simply smell. Smell like obvious lies. Here is one. Gordon cannot honestly make these statements, as they are NOT plausible.
