WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush said on Wednesday he was open to across-the-board spending cuts in the federal budget to help pay for hurricane assistance.
In a speech to the Economic Club of Washington, Bush also said he was working with congressional Republicans on a plan for pushing "significant reductions in mandatory and discretionary spending."
Some Republican conservatives have been outraged at the level of federal spending under the Bush administration and projections of up to $200 billion to help rebuild New Orleans and the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina.

Might be nice if you executed one of these plans you keep pushing for on so many issues.
Good Grief! Shouldn't he be the #1 Promoter of spending cuts?
Oh! ...that was before he was elected. Things change, I guess.
Bla, Bla, Bla! He said this right after Katrina and I've seen no action as of yet. Keep Talikng George.
How about "across-the-board" spending cuts just because it's the fiscally responsible thing to do. Period.
He says "cuts". Congress heard "Hikes".
You just cant be Open to...you need to call a newsconference and state you WANT across the board spending. THat you DEMAND it orse its just more ineffectual noise. We are on to you. People just arent listening to you Mr. Pres. Do something...anything.

Amen!
The estimated population of the United States is 297,537,638
so each citizen's share of this debt is $26,940.11.
That's quite a debt to be born with this morning.

Are you hiding his VETO STAMP?
Have to say that while I'm still a believer in the President on judicial nominations, when it comes to spending I'm from Missouri.
Across the board spending cuts are a coward's way out. He needs to specify unnecessary programs and eliminate them, such as the NEA and Public Radio.
It depends on what the meaning of "his" is....
Talk, talk, talk, talk. Talking isn't enough anymore. He gets NO credit from me till he actually DOES it.
Across the board spending cuts. No wait, $7billion in new spending.
They should be able to trim $500 Billion off this bloated budget in no time. All it takes is some will.
