That is exactly what it is.
People who engage in sex are either self-determined to not get pregnant unless they want to, or they're not.

In other words, Roe v. Wade is a travesty to self-determination because it interjects government into the peoples' ability to self-determine at the local level how to legislate morality...
I can spin with the best of them. I'm still for Miers as long as the President is for her.

Two things to bring to everybody's attention
1) Harriet is going down because everybody except for some true believers in the White House bunker are really seeing how horrible a choice this is because she is so unqualified. Bye Harriet glad we didn't get to know how liberal you are.
2) Like it or not, right or wrong, moral or not, abortion is Never going away. You can overturn Roe (unlikely) but even if you do it is never going to stop abortion. It is a necessary evil that women are going to use. Deal with it.

"may be in a snit," eh? It has amazed me that official White House spokespeople have used dismissive language to describe conservatives that they have never and would never use against liberals. If only they would be this tough on the left.

Oh no, not the whoodoo voodoo princess. You consider Miers, to be that lacking in well principled notions of the US Constitution? Perhaps, Miers' well measured bootlicker-style, is deserving of such a santeeee-ria comparison.

Miers, who was one of the first women to become a partner at a major Texas law firm, also showed sympathy for feminist causes, referring to the "glass ceiling" faced by professional women and urging her audience to support female candidates. She recited a list of national and state leaders that crossed the political spectrum, including Gloria Steinem, then-first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton and Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas. Oh, great. This is exactly what I wanted to hear. Sounds like Miers thinks Chelsea Clinton's parents are, as she might say, "COOL!"
To: Italia222
Did Bush just go with his gut on this one without bothering to have anyone research this woman's writings, letters, speeches or beliefs? Or is it something more sinister than that?
To: Italia222
"Deal with it," you say of abortion, another way of saying "accept it." That's easy for you to say, if you haven't (1) had scissors rammed up the back of your neck to make a hole from which your brains will be sucked out, even though you are just inches from being out of the womb; (2) been injected with saline, so you can burn to death, squirming in pain in your mother's womb for hours; (3) been torn limb-from-limb from your mother's womb. Yeah, deal with it.
To: billclintonwillrotinhell
I don't think there's anything sinster going on with the Miers nomination. Bush was in a tight spot (Katrina, Iraq, Rove, etc.) and went for a convenient choice rather than one that would require a fight.
Ironically enough, however, Miers has caused far more ruckus than someone like Janice Rogers Brown would have.

That is their MO. Remember they piled on Bennett without knowing or caring about the context. However, they never miss a chance to kiss Kennedy or Clinton butt. Makes you wonder what the WH is really about...
To: KentTrappedInLiberalSeattle
White House spokesman Jim Dyke said ... some conservatives "may be in a snit" Petulant fools the snitful are. They have abanoned reason and trust, and are trying to destroy the country so liberals can take over.
