ABCNEWS TELLS WHITE HOUSE OF 'INDICTMENT' Tue Oct 25 2005 19:08:02 ET
"We have double sourced that the vice president's chief of staff has been indicted," a reporter for ABCNEWS claimed to a White House press spokesman this afternoon.
The White House refused to comment on the claim. The network said they didn't need comment, they were preparing to run with the development on this evening's network news broadcast, sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.
ABCNEWS claimed to the White House that it had double sourced how an indictment against vice presidential chief of staff I. Lewis Libby was set.
A senior White House source quickly determined ABC was bluffing; the report did not run on the East coast feed of the program.
Developing...
UPDATE
ABC NEWS spokesman Jeff Schneider tells the DRUDGE REPORT: "There is nothing at all true about us having double sourced anything" regarding indictments.
More from Drudge:
CBS JOHN ROBERTS: Lawyers familiar with the case think Wednesday is when special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald will make known his decision, and that there will be indictments. Supporters say Rove and the vice presidents chief of staff, Scooter Libby, are in legal jeopardy...
Another update from Drudge:
Indictments in CIA leak case about to be handed down
Looter Guy has made Tourist Guy an afterthought.
WTH is going on?
A BLUFF?! That's not the freaking word I'd use for what ABC just bloody did.
A direct hit on Rove would have been worse. I don't think you should overstate the significance of this. Relax.
and there you go....Fitz might want to look at his OWN office and investigate for leaks..since that is apparently what he says the WH did. Or maybe he's covering that up?
"A senior White House source quickly determined ABC was bluffing; the report did not run on the East coast feed of the program."
Sounds to me like a reporter who isn't sure they have a source in the know is trying to get some reaction one way or another from the White House Communications Director in the hopes of getting enough info from that to make a guess and then try for a scoop.
BFD.
What are we going to do about Islamofascism and the death of free speech in this country? Sheesh!
Put down the bong.
It's one of those "developing" stories on Drudge

Oh, yes. Cheney and Libby will be indicted. Can you imagine how horrible it is for a man and his chief of staff to talk about issues they are responsible for?
And Rove will be indicted because he is supposed to be "Bush's brain", and will have to step down if he is indicted. I'm sure there's at least one occasion in his 16 hours of testimony where he didn't remember accurately a conversation he had 2-3 years ago.
If voters won't get rid of these people, well, the courts will. After all, Fitzgerald is the one we trust to save us.
/sarcasm
Yes. But if it hurts a Republican it's a "good felony" and no one will be held accountable.
I wonder if someone just hosed ABC.
I think more than likely Bush has had enough of this D.C. crap, from the press, the Democrats, and some in his own party.
They'll come out swinging.
Of course, the press will scream bloody murder "Politics of Personal destruction."
Oh, that would be cool, wouldn't it!
LOL!!!!!
LOL. Oh brother.
I thought the GJ met on Wednesday.
