ABCNEWS TELLS WHITE HOUSE OF 'INDICTMENT' Tue Oct 25 2005 19:08:02 ET
"We have double sourced that the vice president's chief of staff has been indicted," a reporter for ABCNEWS claimed to a White House press spokesman this afternoon.
The White House refused to comment on the claim. The network said they didn't need comment, they were preparing to run with the development on this evening's network news broadcast, sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.
ABCNEWS claimed to the White House that it had double sourced how an indictment against vice presidential chief of staff I. Lewis Libby was set.
A senior White House source quickly determined ABC was bluffing; the report did not run on the East coast feed of the program.
Developing...
UPDATE
ABC NEWS spokesman Jeff Schneider tells the DRUDGE REPORT: "There is nothing at all true about us having double sourced anything" regarding indictments.
More from Drudge:
CBS JOHN ROBERTS: Lawyers familiar with the case think Wednesday is when special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald will make known his decision, and that there will be indictments. Supporters say Rove and the vice presidents chief of staff, Scooter Libby, are in legal jeopardy...
Another update from Drudge:
Indictments in CIA leak case about to be handed down
Saddle up! Don't complain. Post like a man! Get a flamesuit!
Mine too. It all began and should end with him..
It is possible that Drudge's "source" got the story wrong, and that no ABC reporter asked the white house anything.
Priceless!
I am sticking to my prediction
You don't think the CHIEF OF STAFF to the Vice-President being indicted is a "big deal?! How about if Cheney gets indicted - is that a "big deal"?
I think Ken Starr settled for the one certain thing because there was evidence that had not been shredded and memories that had not been erased. (taped conversations and an unmistakable DNA deposit) You can bet Ken Starr would have gone nowhere with that one if all he had to rely on was Monica Lewinsky's testimony. Deny, deny, deny. It's hard to convict someone when all the witnesses sing the same tune. Or die.
That was in 1999... guess he didn't see any future in a President Gore!
Who are you calling a moron?
Wilson will throw such a comic fit should he be indicted for being less than honest, it will be all worth it.
Your post 114!
Would you please explain to me what the hell would be different?
I'm not worried at all.
Marlin "Scooter" Dyess was a great running back at the University of Alabama in the late 1950's on Bear Bryant's first teams there. He's only about 5'6" tall. He's from my hometown and a piano once owned by him sits in my living room. He was Captain of the 1959 team that upset Auburn 10-6. He's a 'Scooter' I would put in charge of anything.
"Any updates on Hardball yet?"
Hardball is reporting that Fitzgerald has indicted Libby, Cheney, Bush, and Free Republic.
I have breaking news folks.... it has come to light that a Ham Sandwhich in the with house refrigerator gave the info to judy miller and will be indicted tommorrow around 11am and eaten around noon.
Except, the news media will do their best to make sure everybody thinks that the VP chief of staff is the most critical person in the administration.
I wasn't here during Spain's election...but..
Do you not think that was a really bad day in fighting the war on terror???
I think it went a long way to encourage the London bombings...and we don't even know for sure what else...
We NEEDED Spain to stand up to the terrorists...not buckle under, IMHO>
" I am sticking to my prediction"
What was it again? I have gone through about 20 today of my own.
Yes, Cheney would be a big deal. Libby is a senior staffer. They get indicted in every administration. Easier for Bush to do damage control. If it's two or three seniors, that's bad news.
I saw that Drudge pulled it too. Hmm. Must have gotten a call from ABC which doesn't want a bunch of doo doo on its face. In any event, this thing is getting out of hand. Here's hoping that Fitzgerald fitzes the MSM and moonbats with a big surprise...
