ABCNEWS TELLS WHITE HOUSE OF 'INDICTMENT' Tue Oct 25 2005 19:08:02 ET

"We have double sourced that the vice president's chief of staff has been indicted," a reporter for ABCNEWS claimed to a White House press spokesman this afternoon.

The White House refused to comment on the claim. The network said they didn't need comment, they were preparing to run with the development on this evening's network news broadcast, sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

ABCNEWS claimed to the White House that it had double sourced how an indictment against vice presidential chief of staff I. Lewis Libby was set.

A senior White House source quickly determined ABC was bluffing; the report did not run on the East coast feed of the program.

Developing...

UPDATE

ABC NEWS spokesman Jeff Schneider tells the DRUDGE REPORT: "There is nothing at all true about us having double sourced anything" regarding indictments.

More from Drudge:

CBS’ JOHN ROBERTS: Lawyers familiar with the case think Wednesday is when special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald will make known his decision, and that there will be indictments. Supporters say Rove and the vice president’s chief of staff, Scooter Libby, are in legal jeopardy...

Another update from Drudge:

Wow, that means ABC News was lying to the WH communications director on a fishing trip. They were trying to get a comment from the WH to confirm somebody's rumor. They should have their correspondents kicked out of the White House now. What a low class thing to do.

And now Drudge exposed ABC to the world. I hope they fire that scummy reporter.

So a lot of these "leaks" are really either from the witness, the target, or their lawyers. For whatever reason they decide to "leak." But it isn't illegal.

If the notifications haven't been made, it's a leak.

White House is now under seige

Yes, this is true.
However, the public won't stand for it that long.

I wonder if it's one of the reporters married to a Toon apparatchik.

I thought they all were.

I'm worried, too, TS; even though people whose opinions I value keep telling me not to be worried.

Honestly, I just don't see how so many of us can look at the information out there and be this wrong.

Relax.

True. Let's face it, before this leak probe, 99.999999% of Americans didn't know who Scooter Libby was, and today, 99.99999% (one decimal place removed) of Americans still don't know or care.

What are we going to do about Islamofascism and the death of free speech in this country?

Arm ourselves with megaphones and hollowpoint bullets filled with pig blood, SILLY!

Could you possibly BE more doomed? You make more mountains out of molehills than anyone I have ever seen on this forum. President Hillary Clinton? Pray tell me, how, in this short thread, have you convinced yourself of that outcome? Please take off your "We ARE DOOMED. DOOMED." sign and bother to take a few deep breaths.

Isn't leaking grand jury information a felony?

A leak that is damaging to a democrat is a crime.

A leak damaging to a Republican is encouraged and applauded.

After watching years of this, I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

You folks are hard on me. I am on your side. I can take it though. I just don't see it as a funny situation. I lived through Watergate when it was silly to consider the eventuality. It is not apparent yet, perhaps never, but I know what the left and the dems goals are.
