Hey everyone. Have not been on the computer much today. Patricia Cornwell's new book came out today so have been reading when I had a chance. I think it is going to be very good. Thanks for posting the photos, ohioWfan.

Mystery-ak update:Just heard from the lady herself :)
She sounds in good spirits but says, "... it is still very uncomfortable to sit at the puter for long periods of time....so if Im not there tonight, you'll understand why... tell all my friends hi tonight...."
So on Mystery's behalf: HI!
And prayers sent.

I find it hard to believe that Clinton had 60% approval his last years. You're not alone :) Those polls can be skewed in such a way that they can produce any number.

Thanks for the great chart. Fox News had something similar, but much less detailed, this morning, about how all presidents have slumps - examples: Nixon's approval during Watergate - 24%; LBJ's approval during Vietnam - 32%; Carter's approval (I think during all four years) - 28%; Reagan's approval during Iran-Contra - 31%; and so on. Nina Eason (I think - of the Boston Glove) compared Pres. Bush to Lincoln, who was highly criticized during the Civil War but is now regarded as one of our greatest presidents. Your chart has lots more detail. Thanks again.

The problem with these kind of polling comparisons is that the lows for the previous Presidents you mentioned were during periods of low support for controversial policies (e.g., Vietnam), or scandals.

I know what you mean. I think the poll numbers reflect some odd sympathy that some people had that he was being impeached...........PLUS the economic bubble we were in (that he had nothing to do with creating) made people think he was doing a good job.
It was all a mirage. WE knew it, but the average American didn't.
