Top Bush Supporters Set to Launch Anti-Miers Ad Campaign

A 30-second TV ad is set to air tomorrow, Wednesday, that some believe may be as effective at helping stop the Harriett Miers confirmation as the Swift Boat ads were in helping stop John Kerry.

BetterJustice.org, a conservative grass-roots organization, created and funded the hard-hitting anti-Miers (but pro-Bush) ad. The organization's board of directors includes several otherwise staunch Republican stalwarts, such as David Frum and Linda Chavez.

"Miers is no more qualified to sit on the Supreme Court than I am to be a sumo wrestler!" So stated the so very un-sumo-like Ann Coulter.

>>When I read about him now, I picture him drooling and spinning around in the middle of the room. <<

And you're not engaged in a "smear tactic" yourself?

Yeah. It indicates the presence of a pinhead, since only conspiracy pinheads use the phrase.

So now you're calling George HW Bush a pinhead - he is the one that used that phrase.

When Harriet Miers raves and rants like Frum does, get back to me.

He/She never responded to my retort that GHWB was the one who introduced that phrase to the public.

Sinkspur is very liberal when it comes to facts.

Gee.......Ronald Reagan picked an AFFIRMATIVE ACTION nominee and he didn't know her, nor much about her. He was convinced to nominate O'Connor, so that he would go down in history as the first president who placed a woman on the SCOTUS.

And nobody, NOBODY went all hysteric over that; not pundits, not talking heads, not columnists, not the populace.

When they used to teach the Constitution to 14 year olds, they ALL had a clear concept of the Constitution. It really isn't all that hard !

I'm not calling you Nazis, I comparing your unquestioning zeal for Bush to the attitude among those that made good Nazis or KGB agents.

Uh-huh.

I'm not one of those saying any of those things you fantasize in your second paragraph. Bush deserves criticism when he's wrong, and there's plenty of it, and most of it is fair and considered.

What is NOT considered or fair is short-circuiting the nomination process by doing and saying everything possible to force Miers to quit.

Apparently, my believing Miers has a right to a hearing is the equivalent of acting like a Nazi.

You have a fevered little brain, mobyss. And, why on earth did you choose "moby" to be part of your name? We have a very negative view of "Moby" around here since the election.

So why can't one of the R Senators ask her if she feels affirmative action laws on the books were decided correctly, or if government has a role in equalizing outcomes?

She will most likely say something very vague and then say something along the lines of "Were I to rehearse here what I would say and how I would reason on such questions, I would act injudiciously". Ginsberg used the quoted text to avoid directly answering questions.

This is why the hearings are not going to be any sort of great revelation.

Do you think Reagan got his monies worth with O'Connor?

We are carping because we have experienced the results of affirmative action picks and don't want to repeat the mistake.

Someone questioned my sobriety last night because I spelled something with an e instead of a u.

Forgive me for not quite seeing the equivalence of being tipsy with slaughtering 6 million Jews.

"Not only is it full of cliche, and I practically fell asleep reading it, but it has a real problem with grammar. It's unclear if she is saying that "excelling law students show" the following clauses. If that's it then she ultimately says that "excelling law students show . . . importantly, judgment." I don't know how else to read it, but at best it's unclear. If that's the way it's supposed to read, it's pretty trite."

What do you want? A Hemingway or a conservative?

Get your priorities straight man. The woman is not a retard like others have been implying. Just admit it.

"Again..legally she does not have to have any "credentials". The Constitution does not explicitly establish any qualifications for Justices of the Supreme Court.'

Duh...I had no idea....../sarcasm

Of all the known candidates on the list, Miers was the LEAST qualified and has NO conservative credentials.

Most conservatives are seeking a well-qualified proven conservative to change the direction of the court, regardless of the "constitutional requirement."

Where have you been? That's what the hoopla is all about.

Every time I hear the word "stategery", I think it is more an excuse for continued "stupidity".
