A 30-second TV ad is set to air tomorrow, Wednesday, that some believe may be as effective at helping stop the Harriett Miers confirmation as the Swift Boat ads were in helping stop John Kerry.
BetterJustice.org, a conservative grass-roots organization, created and funded the hard-hitting anti-Miers (but pro-Bush) ad. The organization's board of directors includes several otherwise staunch Republican stalwarts, such as David Frum and Linda Chavez.
"Miers is no more qualified to sit on the Supreme Court than I am to be a sumo wrestler!" So stated the so very un-sumo-like Ann Coulter.

This isnt about sinking the nominationBush knows how they feel and he isnt going to budge. Even if he wanted to he cant now, because hed be accused of being ruled by an ultra conservative clique.
What this is about is certain people wanting to prove how superior their principles are. Im with you. Its despicable.

The POTUS is a public servant, not a caudillo. The Constitution gives him the authority to make SC picks, not some howling mob.
There are a great many conservatives who, silently, are hoping he doesn't knuckle under to the unappeaseables.

They are attempting to derail a nomination, not destroy a human being. I'm not sure I agree with them but let's not overstate their actions.
To: duvausa
Some conservatives don't understand the difference between principles and politics.

Pres. Bush should select a known conservative with good qualifications, he started the trek down this highway to nowhere.

If Bush picks Gonzalez, then he has truly abandoned conservatives. All he has to do is pick a qualified conservative judge, there are hundreds of them.

They are attempting to derail a nomination, not destroy a human being. They are destroying a human being. Read some of the stuff written on here the last three weeks.
Now, shinola-head is driving a cable ad campaign that will plaster Miers' face all over television while telling us how damned dumb she is.
David Frum has a personal animus against Miers, and he's going to do whatever it takes to humiliate her.

Destroy a human being? Since when did opposing someone sitting on the Supreme Court amount to destroying them. Please. Your hyperbole does nothing but discredit your opinions.
