New Bond: I hate guns By This is London 25 October 2005 Daniel Craig will have a problem playing the new James Bond - because he hates guns.

The actor will wield 007's famous Walther PPK in the movie Casino Royale.

But he revealed in OK! magazine: "I hate handguns. Handguns are used to shoot people and as long as they are around, people will shoot each other.

"That's a simple fact. I've seen a bullet wound and it was a mess. It was on a shoot and it scared me. Bullets have a nasty habit of finding their target and that's what's scary about them."

Nor does the 37-year-old share Bond's love of Martinis shaken and stirred.

"I love a Martini straight up. I don't think anybody makes a Martini stirred any more," he said.

Craig was unveiled earlier this month as the successor to Pierce Brosnan. He will play a tougher, grittier 007 in Casino Royale, which is based on Ian Fleming's first Bond book.

Could they make bond any more of a pansy?

I think if they picked 10 straight men who had no experience or connection to hollywood or artsy "independent film" at random, they would create an infinitly better product than the last films combined.

YES!
Sean Connery remains "James Bond" and all the others are pale imitations.

The new one paler than most...

I STILL think the Croatian actor who portrays Lukka on ER would make an excellent Bond! (Sorry, I've forgotten his name but I do remember his smoldering good looks and how sexy he is!)

don't know if they're true or not, but i've heard similar stories. however after a couple shots like that someone would always bring up that point. usually was fixed by a piece of tape over the hole and shooting thru it.

Ed McGivern in the 1920's and 30's was an expert shooter of aerial targets with a double action revolver. He could hit 5 thrown targets at a time. He also could hit coins and has a picture of the washer trick in his book "Fast and Fancy Revolver Shooting". He did not use shotshells but standard .38 special target loads. He was also the fastest shooter of his time, being able to fire 5 rounds in 2/5's of a second into a playing card sized group at 15 feet. He developed primitive electronic timing devices to measure these feats.

Buffalo Bill used to ride a horse and shoot thrown glass balls.

That I could buy, but nicking the inside of a thrown washer? If the washer had any rotation, how would a person ever hit it right. And once hit, wouldn't it "ping" out 100' in some pretty random direction?

Now, a Maytag washer? I can hit that.

As Colonel Potter (M*A*S*H) once said, "I couldn't hit a bullet off the side of a barn." LOL

After shooting wheel guns and pistols for almost 40 years, I have a 3" group at 25 yards. Practice is key.

My Daddy could hit a thrown penny almost every time with a .22 rifle. Ditto for an acorn or hickory nut.

He had to throw it himself, and go through a particular motion. If he threw it wrong, he would just not shoot and try again.

He would also put a row of nails on a board and drive them using the same Remington model 513 scoremaster.

I can do that to. The hard part is throwing them up with one hand.

what's wrong with metrosexual "girly-men"? that would define me fairly well, just about everyone who meets me has the first impression that i'm gay. i dress very neat, make sure my hair and nails are done. i make sure my clothes are all well kept, clean and that the patterns, colours and textures match. i also wear quite a bit a jewelery.
i also know which cleaning products work best to remove the bloodstains from my clothes after gutting the deer i just killed.
