SPARE a thought for Swedish feminists whose newly formed party is disintegrating after hardliners presented a manifesto advocating a man tax, the abolition of marriage and the creation of gender-neutral names. Sweden already boasts one of the highest levels of female participation in the workplace and some observers questioned the need for a feminist party in a country whose women account for half the seats in parliament.
When it was founded six months ago, polls showed that a quarter of voters would consider supporting Feminist Initiative in elections next year because of rising domestic violence against women and higher salaries for men.
That goodwill seems to have faded after the partys recent founding congress, however, when radicals such as Tiina Rosenberg, a professor of gender studies, appeared to have secured control of the agenda. The resulting platform included proposals for abolishing marriage and changing the law to let people who undergo sex change operations legally alter their names.
The party called also for the creation of more gender-neutral names such as Robin or Norva that could apply to a boy or a girl. At present parents must choose names from an official list for boys or girls.
Rosenberg resigned from the governing board after complaining of an anti-feminist backlash and insulting personal attacks in the Swedish media, where she was ridiculed as part of the lunatic left.
Gudrun Schyman, another founding member of the party, came to her defence last week. The reason for this campaign against her is that shes a lesbian, she said. The attacks against her are homophobic.
A former Swedish Communist party leader and author of erotic verse, Schyman once demonstrated her sense of fun by posing naked for a newspaper behind a red umbrella. But conservative male politicians do not find her amusing.
She advocates what she calls a man tax to cover the cost of violence against women in the home but has stopped short of endorsing the opinions of Ireen von Wachenfeldt, who until recently ran one of Swedens largest state shelters for battered women. In a recent television documentary called The Gender War, she proclaimed: Men are animals.
The documentary noted that the shelter had printed excerpts of an extremist American feminist manifesto called Scum, which stands for the Society for Cutting Up Men. In it, women are urged to destroy the male sex and seize the chance made possible by science of giving birth only to females.
The spectacle of militant feminism reaching into Swedens official institutions provoked a political scandal in which Wachenfeldt was forced to resign from her job at the shelter.
Since then the traditional Swedish belief in the need for organising politics, business and even ones private life to make it as sexually equal as possible seems to have come under threat. In new opinion polls only 1.3% of voters said they would vote for the feminist party.
Parents must choose names from an official list? I don't know if they need feminists, but these chumps need something.
Yeah. I work w/a Norwegian and a Dane. I'm not sure about Norway, but I know the Danes have an official list as well. They're always talking about how Americans just call their kids anything and why it's better to choose 'good' names from the official list.
Ah yes. First off, they can't even get a definition correct. Homophobia is not disliking gays. It is having an irrational fear of gays. I don't like vodka. By their reasoning, I am vodkaphobic. Secondly, these are the same type of people that oppose war. "Violence begets violence," they chant. Unless of course, they are committing the violence. Then it is for their own protection, and to payback men. I do not know how ANYONE can take these people seriously.
I've heard the same thing about France.
Paging Gustavus Adolphus ... you're being paged to come clean up your country.
Maybe all the men should just leave the country and see how long it lasts.
They'll just say men are running scared because the men know they (the feminazis are right). Or, they'll accuse the mean of ignoring the problem and contributing to a culture of fear. You can never win with these nutjobs.
Yeah, it seems like the males are the ones who are discriminated against.
You're right. I hate all this man bashing. Good natured poking fun at male/female differences is one things. The rest of this kind of stuff is something else again.
Here's the start of an official French Name List:

Come on Freeper's you can to this.
Man, you said it! The three things I most associate with Gustav Adolf the Great--militarism, nationalism, and Lutheranism--today are held in disdain by a large segment of the Swedish population.
Posted yesterday. Quite a few euroweenie countries require government approval of names for children.
Reason number 956 why our folks left that place. Reason number 1 was they were in debt up to their eyeballs. Reason number two was established state churches.
Simple, yet accurate.

Hey, Charles = you may not recall. Norske, me. 4th generation here.
My Mom liked sparring with - her Swedish Boss.
Me, too!
While the Swedish Feminists talk a good game they deliver nothing. Meanwhile, in the USA, the Underclass says "bring it on". And they are not playing. Want to see the future where men are marginalized, moved outside the norm, and not given opportunity. Go visit you local ghetto. "Baby Mama's", parasite behaviour, drug dealing, predation, rape.
2. Women who know what to do with men are perfectly fine and the men are happy too.
3. #2 begs the question of what do I mean by "do with". I mean, accord men with respect, honor, value and acknowledge their worth.
4. Women, who aren't rutting around in the trash heaps of humanity understand this, and tend to identify men with destructive behaviors from a mile off, as I suspect men can with women.
5. It's an old adage but brilliant, if you are demanding to be respected, you better be worthy of it. And what's between your legs is not on the list of "are you worth knowing?" Unless you're dumpster diving at the local bar for that night's "Mr. or Mrs. Will do at this late hour."
Arthur is expected to return to Britain someday, why not Gustavus Adolphus to Sweden?
(Except, of course, that they are both dead and the expectation of their return is the fairy tale ending to their stories.)
