Civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks has died, Local 4 has learned.
Parks, 92, reportedly died around 7 p.m. Monday at St. John Hospital on Detroit's east side.
Parks' refusal to give up her bus seat to a white man in Montgomery, Ala., in 1955 landed her in jail and sparked a bus boycott that is considered the start of the modern civil rights movement. The bus is on display at the Henry Ford Museum, Dearborn.
Parks, was born on Feb. 4, 1913, in Tuskegee, Ala. She lived in Detroit.

God bless you, Rosa. Who knew such a small action would have such a large impact.

"Yea, but you can't go through life worrying about what doofuses like mom and son Kilpatrick and Conyers have to say. Just give credit where credit is due and move on.
It's like trying to blame Marilyn Manson on Buddy Holly."
I think Rosa Parks should be considered a hero to all Americans, since she fought against that most un-American of philosophies: Religious bigotry.
That being said, comparing the blaming Parks for the words of Conyers to the blaming Buddy Holly for the songs of Marilyn Manson would be more apt if, instead of having died in a plane crash, Holly had worked as a session musician for and adviser to Marilyn Manson for many years. Miss Parks served as a staffer to race-baiting ultraliberal Congressman John Conyers for several decades, and watched him blame everything on the white man and call for increased affirmative action and quotas. Unfortunately, the tragedy that befell the civil rights movement as the 50s and 60s moved into the 70s and 80s may have befallen Miss Parks as well.
But at this time we should remember Miss Parks's good deeds on Earth, not her bad choice of friends and deviation from the true meaning of equality. May she rest in peace.

Not to detract from this ONE act that this woman did. Her beliefs were Marxist. Okay. You're just damning her with faint praise is all.

Wow Rod they're coming out of the woodwork. That "coming out" was a while ago. Now they're in plain sight, without a care in the world.

The bus is on display at the Henry Ford Museum I can just picture old Henry Ford (a bigoted SOB even by the standards of his time) turning over in his grave.

I suppose they're hoping we'll all leave and then they can say whatever they want.

I can just picture old Henry Ford (a bigoted SOB even by the standards of his time) turning over in his grave. Henry Ford was indeed a bigot, and it appears he had it by the pound for the Jews.
Yet he wasn't bigoted towards American blacks. Check out this history about Henry Ford and a black friend of his named William Perry. With this in mind, Ford may have applauded that bus being there.

My grandfather, a member of the local KKK didn't like the way it affected my grandmother so he and some friends loaded a white horse on a trailer behind an old Chevy pickup and drove by the wife-beater's house on Sunday morning when the wife was at church. Hubby was drinking on the porch steps and a shout from the truck told him he would be " riding this white horse " if he hit his wife again. My grandmother and her friend were never told about this event but the black seamstress later remarked what a wonderful change had come over her husband - no beatings and he had even stopped drinking all together. In areas where organized criminal/terrorist gangs florish, they tend to act as local police -- it maintains their community support. I wouldn't be surprised to hear similar anecdotes about (for example) the local Mafia enforcers or Hamas cell leaning on a troublemaker.

Rosa Parks was by no means the only person who stood up. The reason the NAACP picked Rosa Parks as the "test case" to be publicized was that she has the lowest vulnerability to the expected smear campaign. This, shall we say, erodes the credibility of certain commentators on this thread.

I suppose they're hoping we'll all leave and then they can say whatever they want. Perhaps, but I'm a Cleveland hard-head so it's going to be hard to accomplish that with me.

I love it when people slice it this thin. Marx wrote a little pamphlet called The Communist Manifesto. So what's the difference?
Marxism isn't really a form of government. It's a theory of history. He didn't write much about actual communism in practice just mostly elucidating his theory of history and criticizing capitalism. So whatever thug comes around can just impose their ideas on top of what was a pretty thin idea to begin with.

Interestingly enough Ford apologized later on about his publications and statements about Jews. I hadn't read anything about that, but I'm not doubting you. Can you point to something to that effect? I'd love to read it.
