Jury Finds Ford Liable
LA Times ^ | 10/22/05 | Bloomberg News

Link only, per what I am interpreting as our copy write rules.

Bottom line, Ford has been found liable for failing to properly warn the public not to recline in their seats while driving. Oh, and to not prop their feet up on the dashboard and take a nap. For some strange reason, Ford is supposed to make sure people understand that cars don't drive themselves.....

All this to the tune of $16.95 millioin.

I assume this refers to the boyz from the hood I see driving around here with their seats reclined so far back you can barely see the tops of their heads. I have no idea how they see over the dash to drive. Of course, maybe they don't...

Mine does.  It has cruise control... and a special feature that makes me actually a better driver when I'm drunk.

Sounds like an old lady in a Cadillac.

Why have reclining seats at all? If you're not supposed to use them when riding in the car, what's the point?

What they really need is swivel seats so you can turn around and smack the kids.

I haven't seen a warning, but I have found I drive better when facing forward...

Oh, is THAT what my cruise control is for. I thought it was to keep Tom Cruise away from my car.

No, they should have a boxing glove on a spring for that.

How about quenching down in your seat so just your kinky hair is visible?

Martin was injured in 1999 while she was a passenger in the Windstar driven by her mother. Martin wouldn't have been hurt in the low-speed collision if she hadn't been reclining, Langdon said.

Well, at least it was not $16.96 billion. Juries are typically idiots when they come to these types of awards; or should I say "rewards"? Let's see - who was driving the car? Seems like it should be THEIR problem, not Ford's.

In High School they were pretty useful when the car was parked.

She's at least trying - these guys are so far down they make it look like there's no one driving, and when you get close enough to see them, they're lying so far back they're practically staring at the ceiling.
