Well, see, when the evil Karl Rove steered the hurricane toward the black population centers in Dade and Broward county in an effort to get Haliburton and daddy's Texas cronies the reconstruction job, Jeb and his brother rigged everything to keep the little guy oppressed.

Or something. ;-)

Yes, I'm interested. Are you on the mainland part of Vero Beach or out on A1A? Let's hope nothing happens to the Ocean Club this time around!

Checking in from Cocoa. Rain has been very heavy since about 8 am. Several inches of rain standing on property, tree limbs down, heavy wind gusts at times. Lost power at 9:02 am and it returned back at 10:28. All in all, just another day in paradise. :-)

Good news in Punta Gorda. I can see the edge of the last cloud band approaching out there, with blue skies beyond. It has quit raining, and the dogs decided it was time to go out.

Storm's over. Loot 'em if you got 'em.

Is the eye supposed to go over Miami and, if so, when?

Cold front made it through. Very, very weird to be watching a hurricane go by and it's cold outside.

Isn't that the truth! We're in Winter Park and we have a window open...it's a bit cold in the house. We are thrilled to still have power here!

Oops, I meant to say the Ocean Grill. I liked that little Mexican restaurant, Ay Jalisco, too.

Is it just me or has anybody else noticed that the National Weather Service radars for Melbourne and Miami are running 30 minutes behind?

It's passing to the north of Miami. It should be offshore within the hour.

But don't assume you're not gonna get some nasty squalls in the meantime.

I am on the mainland, about 1/2 mile or so west of the river. The intracoastal bridges closed at 6:00 this morning but are supposed to open this afternoon as soon as the wind goes to 40 mph or less, I think. Schools have been closed for tomorrow, also. There were no mandatory evacuations for the barrier island. It was forecast to clear up this afternoon. I plan on going out for my exercise on the bridges at that time and will be able to check out the beach area. Hopefully there will be no official obstructions.

Feels good, doesn't it? I fired-up the furnace to get that stinky "first heat of the season" stench out of it.

Unfortunately after the Miers fiasco a lot of people are looking better than W, including Jeb.
