Elizabeth and Jack Carter prepare to leave the Elko County Library late Saturday morning after meeting with the Elko County Democratric Central Committee. Jack Carter is considering challenging Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., in 2006, and he made Elko is first unofficial campaign stop. (Adella Harding/Elko Daily Free Press)

The Little Baby Snoogle-Fleejer by Jimmy Carter, Amy Carter (Illustrator)

***....Amy Carter did not receive the same "media hands-off" treatment that the Clintons insisted upon for their daughter, Chelsea. The fact that Amy went to public school, her views on nuclear disarmament, and the time she was seen to be reading a book at the table during a state dinner were all subjects of media stories. (Some furor attended the "reading at the table" incident, which some saw as an affront to foreign guests.)

The Carters left the White House after one term. Six years after that, in 1987, Ms. Carter went to Brown University, where she again stepped into the media limelight. This time it was for her arrest during student protests against United States policies in South Africa (then under apartheid) and Central America. The charges against her were later dropped.

Carter went on to pursue a master's degree in art history at Tulane University in New Orleans. There she met James Wentzel, a computer consultant, whom she married in 1996.....****Source

***Jimmy Carter's Son Refused Visa to Iran - (Feb 1999) TEHRAN, Iran (AP) -- Iran has refused a visa to the son of former President Jimmy Carter, who broke diplomatic ties with Iran in 1979, the official Islamic Republic News Agency reported today.

The agency quoted an unnamed source as saying that James E. "Chip" Carter III, who was to lead a group of Americans to Iran in May, was refused a visa because of his "past record." It did not elaborate.

About 25 former Peace Corps volunteers who served in Iran in the 1960s and 1970s were expected to participate in the trip to Iran. The news agency did not say whether they had been granted visas.

The younger Carter was quoted by an Iranian newspaper, Sobh-e Emrouz, as saying that the delegation does not represent the government and has a "tourist agenda."

He is vice president of the International Development with The Friendship Force, a nonprofit group based in Atlanta. He was not immediately available for comment.

President Carter was in office when the Islamic Revolution ousted the U.S.-backed shah's government in Iran and took power in 1979.

In November that year, Iranian militants stormed the U.S. Embassy in Tehran and took 52 Americans hostage. The event led to the severing of diplomatic ties between the two countries. Source

Yes! We need more sons, brothers, nephews, nieces, daughters, sisters of former office holders to run for political office. I can't get enough of the Kennedy Clan. Or the Browns of CA. Or Hutchisons. Or Bushs. Or the Sanchez sisters. Or Tafts. Or Daleys. Or Inzunzas of San Diego County. To name just a few.

*Enough* already! How about some fresh bloodlines for a change?

When I think of Jimmy Carter, I am reminded just how stupid that I was to vote for him on the basis of his faith!!!!!!!!

....The presidential son, who moved to Las Vegas in 2003 and campaigned for John F. Kerry last year, said he's about to embark on a ''listening tour" of Nevada to find out ''if my fellow citizens feel the same way about me as I feel about them."

I guess New York was taken.

One can only deeply, very deeply hope

"The fact that Amy went to public school"

Yet one more lie. Carter SAID that he would send Amy to D.C. Public Schools, but after giving that disaster area a close look, quite wisely sent her to Sidwell Friends.

"Last week the Reno Gazette-Journal reported that Carter confirmed that he was discharged from the Navy in 1970 after one tour of duty in Vietnam because he admitted using marijuana and LSD...."
Well this means he's got the rat primary wrapped up. Now we know what his "listening tour" will be like : he must be still hearing voices.

I remember Jack Carter....He was a comedian on the old Ed Sullivan Show.

I wondered what happened to him.

Still a comedian, I see.

The Carters of Georgia are a family of dynamic-looking he-men......and dramatically-gorgeous women.

I'd love to see the photo in # 1 of that strikingly, vividly-handsome couple, Jack and Elizabeth Carter, juxtaposed with that famous photo of the pale, young Hill/Bills looking like zombie Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls.

So many of these celebrated liberals and their mixed-up offspring have a particular bloodless look as if vampires were at their necks every night.

This is my yearly pre-Halloween horror story, and I'm sticking to it.

to find out if my fellow citizens feel the same way about me as I feel about them

Is this something like, "Well, that's enough talk about me ... let's talk about what you think of me."?
