WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Police blew up a suspicious package in a car parked near the U.S. Capitol on Friday, more than two hours after the two occupants told authorities they had an explosive in the vehicle.
Police said they were interviewing two men they took from the car to determine if the package was a bomb.
(...)At 1:11 p.m., the Capitol Police bomb squad "disrupted" the package -- the police term for destroying it. The door of the car, a 2005 gray Chevrolet Impala, blew open at the time of the controlled explosion.
(...)No evacuations were ordered for the Capitol, but there was a heavy police presence and some streets in the area were blocked off.
(...)Law enforcement sources said the Impala is a rental car registered in Florida.

Suspicious package? A set of balls addressed to the GOP leadership?
Blowing up a package isn't the same as detonating it. Something must be explosive to detonate.

> ... the Impala is a rental car registered in Florida.
I trust that when those guys rented the car, they
didn't check the box marked:
[_] Police detonation liability waiver.
Why did they take them out of the car before "disrupting" the package?
Of course there were no evacuations. All the important people were not working....it's Friday, after all.
Thanks Boundless... I searched Capitol Hill, and the title, but didn't think to just put "Capitol". (o;
I hope they got the remote detonation damage waiver.
Not that it's important but, silly me, were these 'gentlemen' wearing towels on their heads or were they in some other way impaired? Oh ... never mind ... I'm probably the only one who has these irrelevant questions.
And were their names Abdullah something and Mahmood something?
Other reports linked in the posts above classified the men as "white".
I didn't miss that- but aren't most middle-eastern muslims considered "white"? Saudi's, Kuwaits, Jordanians, Afghans, etc...
Sorry about that post- something didn't work right with the italicized part.
I'm not really sure to tell you the truth. I haven't seen any names mentioned in any further articles. I'll post to this thread if I find any. (o:
