Joseph Wilson and his wife, Valerie Plame are preparing to file a civil suit against Bush administration officials.
Plame was the covert CIA agent allegedly unmasked by the White House. Now she is preparing to file a civil lawsuit against the Bush administration officials who may have disclosed her identity and scuttled her career, Salon.com reported Thursday.
"There is no question that her privacy has been invaded. She was almost by definition the ultimate private person," said the couple's attorney, Christopher Wolf.
Wolf said the couple would make a final decision on filing a lawsuit after special prosecutor Patick Fitzgerald has completed his investigation, Salon said.
If they do sue, Wilson and Plame could be the first litigants to depose senior White House officials since Paula Jones, an employee of the state of Arkansas, sued President Bill Clinton.

I do think a President should not have immunity from suit for intentional acts.

Well, if the ho does sue, at least we'll find out if she really was a covert operative working for the CIA or just another desk jockey working at Langley.
I'm thinking that if this Valerie Plame ever tried to buy a car the dealer or the bank financing the transaction would call her employer and ask if she worked there.
Else, she'd have to pay cash every single time ~ with that $10,000 reportable limit causing it's own problems!

what constitutional protection does a vice president, but more specifically his staff, have in a civil case? the SCOTUS isn't going to stop that, have you seen some of the decisions lately?

Wilson himself invited this whole mess because he lied and said that Cheney's office sent him to Africa.
Plame needs to know when to hold 'em, fold 'em and just walk away. They're publicity hounds. another understatement.
This suit would likely be thrown out of court as soon as it is determined that Valerie Plame suffered no physical or monetary damages as a result of her so-called "outing."
If anything she has gained in bucks big time.

My thoughts exactly. One should be careful of what they wish for. I would make certain that my lawyers asked the most uncomfortable questions of Ms. Plame. I doubt this ever goes to trial.
Wilson/Plame's theory of the case is that Plame's privacy was invaded by the public disclosure of her employment status. Thus, it is her status as a government employee that is at issue, not Wilson's.
That being said, the argument with respect to Wilson is that he was a public figure before his trip to Niger at the behest of the CIA. The fact he went to Niger was in the public domain, and how and why he went there were necessary revealations.
If this is the way they want to play the game then Wilson should be charged with perjury during his congressional testimony.
Since gov employees are paid by us....Then we are their employers, no?
Can't we use some of the EOE laws or something to hammer these fools?
Even UNICEF offers some type of financial awards to employers that comply with EOE terms.
Can we tap those monies as employers and find us a lawyer to put these people in their place?
