Miers Critics "Far Right," Says Miers's Ex-White House Officemate

TRANSCRIPT FROM TUCKER CARLSON SHOW:

Adding to the sexism, elitism, faith, and threat cards in the White House arsenal, comes the "far right" card.

Speaking in support of Harriet Miers on Tucker Carlson's MSNBC show last night was Brad Blakeman, described by Carlson as "a former deputy assistant to President Bush [who] shared an office with Harriet Miers for three years."

I'm posting the entire transcript of the Blakeman interview below. Go to the parts in bold to see the "far right" business. CARLSON: ...today one of the many questions regarding Harriet Miers has been answered, in part, anyway, in a questionnaire Miers filled out while running for the Dallas city council in 1989. She clearly indicated, or seemed to, that she's opposed to abortion, unless the mother's life was in danger.

Some conservatives are not satisfied with that, but one who appears to be, joins us now from Washington. He is Brad Blakeman. He's a former deputy assistant to President Bush. He shared an office with Harriet Miers for three years.

Mr. Blakeman, thanks for coming on. [SNIP]

BLAKEMAN: No. I think, Tucker, the president could have put forth Mother Teresa, and there were some on the far right that said, "Well, you know, she's not really religious enough for me."

CARLSON: That's totally not true. You know that that's not true.

BLAKEMAN: No, it is true. The fact of the matter is, the far right...

CARLSON: Hold on. Wait. Hold on. Slow down.

BLAKEMAN: The far right thinks that...

Umm two different things, the constitution isnt a living being with real life experiences formulating its thoughts and opinions.

Of course Jefferson did quip to Madison once that he thought that the laws of the US should be scrapped every twenty years so that the new generation could create laws better fit for them.

Stop! Stop! You're killing me. Too rich. It's sad but this saga really lends itself to caricature. The late night shows are lapping it up as well. That all does wonders for Bush and his future agenda doesn't it.

I love it. When will this be playing in my local theater? Reminds me of night of the living dead, sorta.

You mean making both a laughing stock?

Man has that grade creep thing gotten out of control.

It's been over a year since I've visited but it must seem like decades by the vitrious postings I've observed.

Differing viewpoints provide clarity when rationality confronts emotion but acrimony is distasteful when it clouds fact from fiction. I used to laugh at such ravings when viewing postings on DU sites but seeing them here saddens me to the point of wondering if Libs have successfully infiltrated yet another free thinking domain.

President Bush has done well in his judicial choices thus far and anyone who has been pained by former president Reagan's selection of O'Connor must realize that SCOTUS appointments can never be sure fire. We do not have the privilege of knowing who the President really wanted...who can blame them when we accept media opinion and influence as some necessary evil in a free society?

I suspect Miers may someday reward those of us who have abandoned her selection as a blunder of a President in peril...faith in authority, faith in leadership, faith itself...the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen, this has been our country's guiding light...has that light been extinguished?

"Those are the casualties from just the last few posts on this thread alone. Soon the pro-Miers folks'll be charging us with "animal cruelty," and PETA will join the fray."

OMG, not PETA.

""IWWT."
I don't recognize the acronym. Does it have something to do with the WWF?

"I Won't Wimp Totally" "I Want Whiskey Too" "In W We Trust" "Italians Won't Win Tournaments" "Instinct Weakens Women's Thighs"....."

You could be getting warm, but I couldn't say for sure.

I pick No. 3: "In W We Trust." Fits the discussion better.

"What are you going to punish us with? More gov't, more pork, open borders, more cronies?
By golly - I think you ran them out of ammunition!!!"

I'm not so sure about that "more pork" thing. Bush has promised to do whatever it takes to rebuild NO, and the pols down there says they need 1/4 trillion bucks ($250 billion). Help is on the way. It's the least Bush can do since it's his fault.

"I've been called a pinhead by my wife. Is that like a conehead? You should be commended for your imagination.

No, your wife was right."

LOL. Yes, that's what she said also.

"wasn't it schumer that said this pick was a rejection of the extreme right wing? if so, once again it proves how the wh is using leftist rhetoric against it's critics"

For once, I have to agree with old chucky. And, yes, the WH is now engaged in a war on the base. Funny isn't it. Bush is afraid to confront the likes of the RINO 7 but sends out his minions to trash the folks who helped vote him into office. I think it's clear Rover is now totally out of the picture in the WH in terms of offering sensible advice. Unbelievable.
