Miers Critics "Far Right," Says Miers's Ex-White House Officemate

TRANSCRIPT FROM TUCKER CARLSON SHOW:

Adding to the sexism, elitism, faith, and threat cards in the White House arsenal, comes the "far right" card.

Speaking in support of Harriet Miers on Tucker Carlson's MSNBC show last night was Brad Blakeman, described by Carlson as "a former deputy assistant to President Bush [who] shared an office with Harriet Miers for three years."

I'm posting the entire transcript of the Blakeman interview below. Go to the parts in bold to see the "far right" business. CARLSON: ...today one of the many questions regarding Harriet Miers has been answered, in part, anyway, in a questionnaire Miers filled out while running for the Dallas city council in 1989. She clearly indicated, or seemed to, that she's opposed to abortion, unless the mother's life was in danger.

Some conservatives are not satisfied with that, but one who appears to be, joins us now from Washington. He is Brad Blakeman. He's a former deputy assistant to President Bush. He shared an office with Harriet Miers for three years.

Mr. Blakeman, thanks for coming on. [SNIP]

BLAKEMAN: No. I think, Tucker, the president could have put forth Mother Teresa, and there were some on the far right that said, "Well, you know, she's not really religious enough for me."

CARLSON: That's totally not true. You know that that's not true.

BLAKEMAN: No, it is true. The fact of the matter is, the far right...

CARLSON: Hold on. Wait. Hold on. Slow down.

BLAKEMAN: The far right thinks that...

Well, some of the critics are far-right wackos rather than reasonable conservatives who listen to all the evidence instead of assuming the worst about everything...

Forgot the comma, but yes Hamilton believed in deficit economics. Read about Assumption someday and how it nearly caused the young Republic to split.

"Then obviously you are the one who is unintelligent. So I misspelled one word and misused another, sue me, otherwise grow up. This is the internet I do not need to be nor wish to be perfect everytime [sic], especially on a topic full of coneheads."

And we all respect your right not to be perfect everytime [sic]. Being perfect most of the time is quite acceptable on the internet.

Well the guy shouldnt have made a DUmmie insult.Plain and simple, I rarely use that line but his post was very much in tune with them. Sure its about worn out, about as worn out as the kool-aid line, right?

Seems a number of SCOTUS nominations were scuttled by various means in the course of this Republic.

I think the "kitten killing" completes the rant nicely.

I'm torn between "dark side" and "traditionalist." One seems so light, airy and fun, the other is stuffy.

Decisions, decisions ...

"No wonder he is sinking in the polls. Bush is losing it.

Stubbornness is not leadership. A wise leader knows how to listen, knows how to cut his losses, and knows that disagreements within his base must never be allowed to get ugly and personal. When a leader fights his base he always loses, even if he 'wins'. Clinton defeated his base in getting NAFTA passed but it cost him Congress. A leader who was thinking rationally instead of reacting emotionally would never, ever escalate a conflict with his base to this level of name-calling. It's become a pissing contest with him in which he has completely lost sight of the big picture."

More wisdom worth a second showing. Thanks.

"You are correct in that assertion. In fact, a few more posts like that and you, too, may be a SCOTUS nominee."

My sides are aching. Wonder why? [;o)

With the bureaucracy established by the Republicrats over the past 140 years, do you honestly believe we would miss 537 political hacks if they weren't there?

The legal profession actually did evolve from a system of combat. There is some fascinating medieval use of hired guns to settle disputes, if you know what I mean. The first lawyers ;-)

Wish I had cites. My contracts professor loved that stuff - we'd get about 1 lecture out of 4 that was totally off topic.
