Bush vows to oust 'every single' illegal
The Washington Times ^ | October 19, 2005 | Stephen Dinan and Bill Sammon

President Bush said yesterday that his goal is eventually to expel "every single" illegal alien from the United States as his administration pressed Congress to pass a guest-worker program.
Although conceding that the administration cannot immediately deport the estimated 11 million illegal aliens who are here, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff and Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao told Congress that a temporary-worker program would give aliens an incentive to come out of hiding and let them work legally for six years before being forced to return home.

We've heard these promises before. We won't believe it until there is demonstrable action.

Actions speak louder than words...

AH! Nice to know that for 6 years we would be the guests of the illegals as Americans in our own land and that thus we would never be able to kick them out afterwards. This is an insulting catch22....He is becoming the President of a ghetto, not of a country. Ridiculous.

No, it's true. Once Bush's amnesty program naturalizes all of them, they will no longer be illegals, fulfilling the president's promise.

As long as we screen them and track them I am happy. The Mexicans around here are overwhelmingly hardworking and honest but we can't allow our borders to be open and expect safety and security. I hope this is the beginning to getting this guest worker program under way. I also hope this will allow us to screen out criminals.

These people are making an important contribution to this country and to Mexico who without the money they make would probably be destabilized. It doesn't matter whether they actually stay here for 6 years or 60 years what this establishes is the fact that they can't stay here legally for more than 6 years and therefore cannot make a claim to fulfilling one of the requirements for citizenship. Not that I would deny them citizenship but at least we can manage the system better. This is progress to a secure border without creating a hardship for American agri business, Mexico or the American people.

My only fear is the DemoRats and the ACLU et als will start trying to milk the American people for entitlements for these guest workers.

Ummm, is this another one of those "ya'll will just have to trust me on this" kinda deals? This is almost as good as McLame and Kennedy's "you pay us a $2500.00 fee and you can stay in the US. Duh! Has anyone asked those two idiots where the illegals are going to get the $2500 from? Could they not know that the illegals got scalped at the border by the coyotes who got them into the country illegally? Somehow I don't see them picking lettuce for $50.00 an hour so they will probably never have this $2500 fee in their lifetime!

America is being run by a bunch of nincompoops. My God, we're going to have to overthrow the government before they accidently start a nuclear war. LOL

LOL! I posted on this thread and thought "Well, that's enough reading DU today..."

Seriously, this is one issue that we, as conservatives completely pan the President on. We can't expect the man to do everything, but this is as basic as breathing.
