What on earth is the point until the boarders are secure?! It's like bailing out a boat with a Styrofoam coffee cup while water is pouring over the gunwale.

Good analogy (and great tagline!)

If some Dim. POTUS were to suggest this, I would say it's a pathetic and dishonest attempt to appear to be concerned while paving the way for ever increasing levels of illegal and legal immigration. However, since it was said by a Rep. POTUS for whom I voted twice and worked for as a volunteer -- I'd say pretty much the same thing!

Good intentions are not going to sell. The public is used to insincere claims about action. Do it, Mr. President. Don't talk about it. When once there is action, there will be a large wave of support.

Boy, what a way to start off the day. Got up this morning, fired up the coffee pot, sat down to ye ole puter and read this. Laughed so hard my side hurt over this one. Have any of y'all freepers heard such load of bull hockey coming from this bunch in Washington?

President Bush said yesterday that his goal is eventually to expel "every single" illegal alien from the United States...

Or what? He's going to veto something?

LOL...can you imagine the US government forcing illegals to go home after they've been here six years? They can't even keep them from coming through that broken barbed wire fence that we laughingly call a "border". No one believes the federal government can do anything but take our hard-earned money by force and waste it on bridges to nowhere etc. Chertoff is a bigger flop than Brownie was at FEMA and needs to be sacked. The Dept. of Homeland Security is a farce and will be totally surprised by the inevitable next terrorist attack on the US. We deserve so much better than the govenment we pay through the nose for.

The Program should require them to stay in Mexico for two years before becoming eligible for a guest worker program. This would give them an incentive to go back to Mexico and return legally. Then only allow a one year stay with all children born here Mexican Citizens. They could immediately reapply but must return to Mexico to do so. If they lie and say they haven't been here illegally then they should be permanently bared from the US.

In the name of intellectual honesty, the anti-Bush-on-the-grounds-of-his-doing-nothing-about-Illegal-Immigrant-issue might be positing a "step-in-the-right-direction" posts. But, that doesn't appear to be happening. Figures.

To all Bush Bashers: You know who you are, you two timing back stabbing and libelous losers. George W. has already proven himself to be a Great leader of this country possibly only second to President Ron Reagan. My only regret is that he wasn't available at the time to oust & deport every single one of your ancestrial immigrant families when they first came to America for whatever reasons they may have had to spawn such self rightous hate mongering devils that you are. To think that I truely believed at one time that the United States was Blessed and made Great, from the vast diversity of nationalities including MEXICAN that make it up. Perhaps I should rethink my position with nationality of the type of people who speak so freely on this thread. If I had my way, I would elect to deport everyone of you including the Timothy McVeighs amongst you.

They already get 'entitlements'! Most of the ones around here qualify and receive free lunches and free public school.

Not to mention the 'free' medical care from using the emergency room...yes, our emergency rooms here are mostly full of spanish speakers who are not having true emergencies.

There was a part of the lunch application in bold stating that being LEGAL was not necessary to get free lunches.

I know that the illegals don't bother you now, but see how you feel when your town is overrun and the school that your children go to (or used to) is 90% illegal hispanics. It is hard to imagine but that is what is happening in many parts of Texas.

Good analogy (and great tagline!)

Thanks...re: both the analogy and my tagline.

However, since it was said by a Rep. POTUS for whom I voted twice and worked for as a volunteer -- I'd say pretty much the same thing!

This is a prime example of the difference between the Left and conservatives. The Left would apply a dual standard and denounce the right but uphold the left...whereas conservatives are willing to maintain a consistent standard and call out those on our side when they're wrong.

It really gets to the root of the difference between Left and Right...the Left views through the prism of subjective standards whereas the Right recognizes objective standards. The lack of comprehension of objective standards is also why the Left fails to understand moral issues.

Bush vows to nominate USSC justices in the mold of Justices Thomas and Scalia.

I guess this depends on what the definition of 'illegal' is. Hopefully, it still means what it did when the Constitution was written.

"Good lord, he's gone stark, raving mad. "

Sounds like he's playing to the polls, which he said he would never do. Maybe all the stress is getting to him. I feel sorry for him. I can't imagine anyone wanting the job he has.
