Police said a sexual predator in Jacksonville was attacked Saturday night by eight men who claimed he tried to grab a 12-year-old child on the street.
Officials said the men confronted John Childers, 46, and beat him with their fists. Police found Childers on the ground in front of the Evergreen Avenue half-way house where he lived and called rescue.
Childers had bruises on his head and face, but was not hospitalized.
Witnesses told police that eight men arrived in a 1993 Lincoln Continental and another vehicle, beat Childers, then left. The witness said the men had come around looking for Childers before.
Childers has been convicted of lewd and lascivious acts on a child under 16. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement said he had registered as a sex offender at the halfway house address.
I like it! Something I have done is I get a list of all the absconded address unknown offenders on my states list with their pictures and put them all on a document and print a few hundred color copies off and pass them out to school bus drivers, some LEO's I know, anyone who wants one. That way they can just put the paper in their patrol car or bus and if they happen to recognize someone they know that they have a fugitive offender and can call it in
Did you see the stories in the links from previous post? Read them and tell me what you would have done differently.
In one the kid was stolen from his bedroom, and the perp has his pants down around his ankles when the dad found him, trying to throw the kid over the backyard fence...in the other, the husband wrestled with the perp who had a knife, mace, handcuffs and duct tape...
When do you calmly say- "Step away from the twelve year old?"
"Yes officer it was a 1998 Studebaker followed by a vintage 1961 Mustang.
"
...driven by the Purple People Eater. I swear. That's my hallucination and I'm sticking with it.
I have no problem with the "adopt a molester" program since the police were involved. I object to any mob justice since not every mob agrees with my type of justice.
I am reminded of something I heard recently.
"If you seek revenge, first dig two graves."
They should have hog tied him and taken him out to the swamp so the gators could have some fresh meat.
3rd world countries don't have 'street justice' they have
no justice...and corrupt cops and judges.
All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men
to do nothing...
imo
This one has already been convicted and not strung up.
Attempting another grab is what brought this on.
I wasn't talking about the situations listed later in the post. I was talking specifically about THIS particular situation. A perv caught in the act can expect a good beating, and I have no problem with that. However, it's one thing to say "step away from the 12 year old" with an overwhelming mob and another thing entirely to say "we heard you tried to grab a 12 year old" as a lynch mob.
No need for flame suit.

All you need to know.
I heard another one:
"Two wrongs don't make a right, but the second one evens the score".

"I'm pretty sure it was a '93 Inter-Galactica, officer. Had a "Hard Rock Cafe (Saturn)" bumper sticker, too."
someone who abuses innocence has it coming, period. what makes me nervous is the bloodthirstiness expressed about those who have only been accused, and not proven guilty or caught in the act.
gator bait
This guy was already convicted, but apparently not kept locked up long enough, and I'm not sure anything less than life is long enough for pedophiles.
This guy apparently was caught in the act of being his old self. They are not only entitled to stop him, they are morally obligated to do so. If they'd really wanted to beat him to a pulp, he would have been hospitalized.
To make a long story short, I had a run-in with a couple of creeps in my younger days, I'm female and I was driving home from work at 12 midnight when a car with three young punks (white, by the way) came zipping past me, cut in front of me, and slammed on their brakes, forcing me to stop. Then two of the punks came running back to my car and began pounding on my windows, which were closed. I went into a kind of state of shock where I just sat there and was aware of it all happening, but I couldn't react or do anything. Then my mind began to clear and I was aware that my driver's side window was getting loose from the pounding and might cave in.
So I very deliberately reached under my car seat for my umbrella with a very long point. I thought that if the window went in, I would slam that point straight into the perp's eye. I kept my eye on him as I reached under my seat, and something in my gaze must have told him I meant business.
I'm sure they thought I was reaching for a gun, because the two of them gave a final kick on my door and raced back to their car. They didn't stick around to see what I pulled out from under my seat. They tried to back into my front fender, stopped an inch short, then drove off at a high rate of speed.
I wrote down their license number and when I got home a few minutes later to my family's home (this was a nice suburban neighborhood, by the way), I woke my parents up and told them and they called the police. We found out the next day that the police never sent out a search bulletin to look for the creeps' car or to warn other officers to be on the lookout for them.
The next afternoon, two officers came to our home and explained that they couldn't go to the home of the family to which the car was registered because the family had four boys and since it was dark, I could not positively identify each one involved. They said nowadays you just about have to have a video camera to make an arrest.
My Dad asked, couldn't you go to the house and talk to the parents? Oh no, that would be violating their rights. But the cops told my Dad that he was free to ask around the neighborhood (they told us who the family was, a family in my neighborhood) and try to find out the names of which kids were involved. My Dad made some inquiries and found out that the boys had bragged about killing their neighbor's cat, but the police refused to do anything because there was no body of a dead cat. And then a car began to stop outside my family's home late at night and rev its engine, and my mother took that as a warning and begged my Dad to stop making inquiries in the neighborhood because she was afraid. So we let it drop.
About my feeling a sense of shock when the attack started, I've read that it's not unusual. It's like you go into a deep freeze for a minute before your mind can start working again. If I had to do it over, I would have simply put the car in reverse and blasted backwards.
How soon after the molestor has touched your child does protection become "vengeance".? If we are talking hypotheticals about "the rule of law", it's easy to sit back and play Mr. Spok, but I live less than 100 miles from Jessica Lunsfords house. That retarded boy who was asaulted last wek was less than five miles from my house.
The FDLE has identified over 100 offenders and predators in my zip code. try it with 32205.
ping a ling...
"adopt a sex offender" = a great use of LEO's time!
