Amen, brother. I'm not even going to participate in the infighting threads any more.
If you support and trust the President in this matter, as I do, you are not a "real" conservative.
In the vernacular of the the "true" conservatives posting on the subject, screw that.

It's not conservative vs. conservative. It's conservative vs. Republican. Anyone who supports the big government blowout that's occurred since 2001 is probably not a conservative, at least not a fiscal one.

"But we are conservatives. Truth and fact are what got us this far and it will be truth and fact that continue our rise to roll back 80 years of liberalism."Ahem...In case you hadn't noticed, not all Freepers and Republicans are "conservative," but are in fact "compassionate conservatives" or RINOS who are "rolling" towards liberalism (or mushy-middle.)

Bushbots are not just anyone who backs Bush on Miers, but those who back him no matter what he does, who backed him on Federalizing education, on McVain-Vaingold, on the largest entitlement program in 40 years, on his massive ag spending, on AIDS aid for Africa, on his refusal to do anything about the borders, on issue after issue after issue. And they back Miers too, not for substantive reasons (as some do, although I disagree with tehm), but because they "support our President." Sorry, but that's not a good reason.
They support open-borders Republicans over Minutemen. They support RINOs in Senate and House races over principled conservatives -- after all,the White House backs them, so that's reason enough, isn't it?
If you have a good reason for supporting any of this, that's one thing. I may disagree, but I can at least respect it. But "we have to support our President" is not a good reason. Sorry.

Simply our discourse is degenerating... I understand the anger and disappointment stemming from the Miers nomination, but also inclusive of the budget deficit, education department, immigration, etc. These are matters that bother me as well. Hah. Forget Miers... how about when the Terri Schiavo matter was raging on here? Half the board were calling the other half death-worshippers.

What you say is pretty much true. Your comment re if you say anything negative about Bush here, you get immediately jumped on is totally true. As good a person as Bush seems to be, he is human, has made some big mistakes. He is not perfect, thus has made some gross errors in judgment in my opinion. And, like you, I think I am ENTITLED to that OPINION. I believe I have earned it. But, I do not back ANY candidate 100%. I do not give anyone TOTAL control over my life, thoughts, wishes, desires, wants and life. I do not trust anyone to make decision regarding my life but ME. It is my life. If I make the errors, I pay for them. Not you, not Bush, not anyone else, but ME. However, if Bush or out beloved RINOcrat congress makes a MISTAKE, ERROR IN JUDGMENT, We all PAY for it. Usually with our pocket books. When I personally make comments concerning President Bush's decisions, etc., it is because I have MY OPINION as he has his. But, again, he is not perfect. If in my judgment, he made an error, I feel I have a right to say that. Just because I disagree with his decisions does not mean I hate the guy. It means I think he made a MISTAKE. We all make them I think. Well most of us. Some here think they are above mistakes, thus perfect. I assume they live in that town in the TV commercial, of Perfect, USA.

For good or ill, the Republican party has become the "big tent" that the Dems claimed to be for so many years. There are many varieties of conservatives: Social conservatives who don't really give a crap about fiscal issues, fiscal conservatives who don't really give a crap about social issues, small-government conservatives, "little l" libertarian conservatives, Southpark conservatives, evangelical conservatives, etc. Then, you have whole tribes of single-issue conservatives: pro-life, pro-RKBA, illegal immigration, the list goes on.
There really isn't one single definition of "conservative" anymore.

Amen! We are a political force that does not subscribe to a herd mentality. Instead, we put our support behind ideas based upon truth. If there are differences, it is because the availability of the full facts may be deficient--not each other!

Clearly you overlook the value of using "names". It is far more efficient and productive than to waste time and keystrokes beating around the bush.
Just bleat it all right out quick-like and we can then focus quality time on finding out about that missing teen in Aruba.
Oh, I almost forgot, Moron!
